In the ocean of Tamarindo beach there is a small island. The island is visible from the shore so it really wasn't very far out. My dad wanted to paddle out to the island on his surf board.
The day finally came when he decided to do the paddle-out, dad invited us kids to go with him to the island, Levi and I said "yes." Noah decided to stay on shore, and of course Lucas (who didn't know what it was), stayed with mom on shore. The trip was pretty tiring, Levi and I went together on the longboard and dad went on his short board. For a little while, Levi decided he would let me do all the paddling, but when I found out that he was being a lazy bum and making me do all the work, I told him he had to get back to paddling. I am 100% scared of big sea creatures, so I was praying that we would make it across the sea without being eaten by some big creature with razor sharp teeth.
Me and Levi beat dad to the island by 30 seconds. But when dad got there we got straight to exploring the island. The island basically had a huge bush type tree in the middle, tons and tons of tidepools, and a floor covered with rocks and shells. When walking a few minutes into the island, we found a huge fish bone, the fish bone wasn't missing any bones as far as I could tell (I don't study fish bones). It was really fun to climb around the tide pools! In the tide pools there were tons of little waterholes, but occassionaly we came across a big hole. There were a few people snorkeling on the outskirts of the island, I had heard before that the snorkeling near the island was good. On the island there were big shells, most of the shells were white. In one area of the island, we came across a rock with tons of shells on it, and suddenly all the little shells would start moving. Hermet Crabs! I loved the island, it was fun to explore climbing on rocks in the tide pools, seeing a big dead fish, and much more.
Paddleing back to the beach shore where my mom and brothers were playing and relaxing was hard. There were big waves that would come and knock us off our boards. Whenever a wave knocked me off the board, I thought I would be eaten by a shark or stung by a lion fish. I was scared we wouldn't make it back to shore at first. But luckily, we did make it back to shore. Although, I bet you guys already knew, or else I wouldn't be writing this blog entry because I would either be stuck on the island or drowned in the deep, deep sea. When we got back to the island, mom and Noah asked us how it was and what it looked like. I loved the island and I am sure my brother and dad loved it to!
