We rented a car for two days, on the first day we went on a "Bisht Beach Bonanza" and on the second we went to Rincon De La Vieja. This story is about our "Bisht Beach Bonanza."
Our Bisht Beach Bonanza was a little time at tons of the beaches in Tamarindo area. On our little trip we went to Playa Avellanas, Playa Flamingo, Playa Conchal, Playa Negra, and Playa Grande. If you were wondering "playa" means beach.
The first beach we went to was Playa Negra. Playa Negra had bluish clear water. I played mostly in the water but for a little while I played in the sand. Playa Negra had tons of tidepools, In the tidepools Levi saw a blue fish. When he saw it, he called me over. I tried to take a photo of the blue fish but it kept hiding under rocks. When we were at Playa Negra the boys discovered a cool art piece in the sand. Mom and I rushed over, the art piece was awesomely cool! I don't know if "awesomely" is a word, but I need a good word to describe how cool it was! I'm sure the sand art was man-made. The sand art was basically made up of curves, twists and turns. It's hard to explain what the sand art looked like, but if you want to know exactly what it looked like, check out my album for this entry. When all pictures were taken of the sand art we got in the car and went to see our next beach.
Playa Avellanas was our 2nd beach of the day. Playa Avellanas is home to a huge pig, I bet she could get to be one of the 10 biggest pigs on the planet some day. The pigs name is Lola, Lola lives at a resturaunt in her pig pen. The resturaunt she lives at is called Lola's, of course. I wonder if the pig is there to attract people at the resturaunt. Lola's resturaunt is located right on the beach and only serves vegetarian food. We all went to see Lola the pig, she was huge. When we saw her she was sleeping, but for one second she opened her eyes. After eyeing Lola for a while, we went to check out the resturaunt. Unfortunately, the restaurant was closed, we were planning on eating lunch there. Yes! Luckily, there were some people selling chicken kabobs. Street-bought chicken kabobs are delicious in Costa Rica! My dad and I got a few kabobs, then brought them over to the rest of the fam. After lunch, us kids and dad went to play in the water while my mom sat on the wooden chairs of the resturaunt. A lot of the restaurants here in Costa Rica are open. Like most restaurants where I'm from have all the seating inside, but here most of the seating is outdoors. The benches were open to whoever wanted to sit on them, even though the restaurant was closed. The beach had a ton of rocks scattered on its sandy floor. I didn't go in the water very long because even in the water there were tons of rocks, and I do not like stepping on tons of rocks all the time.
Our next beach was Playa Flamingo. The whole time we were at Playa Flamingo I boogie-boarded with Levi. Playa Flamingo's sand was sloped down so when you got in the ocean it got deep fast. After a few minutes of playing in the water, mom came. Mom, Levi, and I played that mom was our boogie-board instructor. Mom (our pretend boogie-board instructor) would push us into the waves. I didn't catch any waves at Playa Flamingo because the waves were so big and they pounded the beach incredibly hard. Levi caught a few waves, but he was always pounded once he got to shore. When our time was over at Playa Flamingo we got into the car and drove to Playa Conchal, our next beach.
To reach Playa Conchal you have to park on the beach and then take a 10 minute walk down the beach and then up a hill. If the tide was right you could drive down the beach and up the hill if you wanted to. We chose to park our car on the beach, we paid someone to watch our car then went on our little walk. It was crazy because on the way to playa conchal you had to walk through this little river, so we all went into the river. I thought that the river would be shallow but once you were a few steps in it, it got waist deep. Once we were across the river, we kept going on the beach until we reached a hill, we walked up the hill to see a beautiful beach made up of penny sized shells. It was beautiful! Each shell had a color of its own, there were so many colors on the shells; light pink, beige, white, light gray, light purple. And Oh, the water was amazing, it was completely clear with a light shade of blue. There were a lot of people on the beach. The water was very calm, the only sort of wave it had was an occasional lump in the water. It was a beach perfect for snorkeling, so dad found a snorkel rental place and got 3 snorkel sets. The water got deep extremely fast so it wasn't really the type of place for little 3 year old swimming. When dad brought the snorkels over, mom taught us how to use them and then I went straight out to the ocean for snorkeling. The second I got out there with my snorkel, I saw tons of fish, some were plain brown and some were pure white. The best thing I saw when I was snorkeling was an eel, when I saw it I immediately swam away as fast as my legs and arms could take me. The eel was pure black with two terrifying eyes. The eel probably wouldn't hurt me, but I was just making sure I was safe by swimming away. The eel looked like a skinny short snake, but I know it wasn't a sea snake. Levi said he saw a big purple fish, I didn't see any colorfull fish. I loved playa Conchal!
Our next beach was Playa Grande. Playa Grande has good surf, so dad surfed for a while under the bright red sunset. Playa Grande has rip currents so we couldn't go that far out into the ocean. A rip current is a type of current that will take you out to sea, a rip current is strong so you can't really swim back to shore. There were tons of people at Playa Grande, either ocean playing, surfing, or watching the amazing sunset over the ocean. I did cartwheels and dug holes in the sand, my brothers ran around crazily as most children there age do, and my mom sat down on the sand and took a million photos of the sunset. Dad had a good time surfing, according to what he said, Playa Grande has really good surf.
I loved our Beach Bisht Bonanza, I had a blast along with the rest of my family (at least I think the rest of my family enjoyed it)!
