Just finished up my second month on deck! only 7 months to go! This week was a blast, I was actually able to relax and appreciate God's beauty in creation<3
WEEK 8- I'm trying to remember as much a I can from the beginning of the week but so much happend. Sunday evening we had our Spa Christmas dinner at a restaurant we have on board called East meets West, its a delicious sushi place and the only one I have been to on board besides main dinning. Before we ate dinner we went to the photography studio to take a "family photo" which turned out to be a horrible picture which wasn't our fault, I blame the photographer. Durning our dinner I had the privilege of sitting next to our new spa girl, Gina, she is very nice and fits in with the team very well. Gina worked on pride of Aloha back in 2007 so she already knows what ship life is like and she really appreciates how welcoming and helpful we all have been.
Tuesday was pretty slow in the spa so we all got off work early. My co worker Silvia wasn't having the greatest day so myself and a couple co workers wanted to get her mind off things and we went to eat at The Skyline. I love spending time with the girls they are always supportive and encouraging and the coolest thing is that the majority of us are believers in Christ its great to be surrounded with such great people. When we leave Kona sometimes the ship sails by the Volcano and we are able to see the Lava flow, my co worker Anzhela has known one of the engine room officers for years and he invited us to his suite to see the volcano from his balcony after dinner. His suite is at the front of the ship right next to the Bridge on Deck 12 and his balcony is bigger than our cabin! and his suite is probably 3x as big as our cabin so we all felt honored to be there. My favortie thing was that he got to have a little christmas tree in his suite! it was real too! he said he just walked in one day and it was there, decorated and all. He also has a hammock on his balcony!
While we were waiting to see the volcano the view from his balcony was beautiful! it was just pure ocean and sky, super dark out but you could see all of the stars. All that was going through my head was how georgeous it was and how hugemongous the entire ocean is and what could possibly be underneath the ocean. God has an amazing imagination, I could sit there in awe forever. There wasn't much to see this time around of the lava, it's kind of hit or miss with the eruption. The Volcano use to be very active but ever since the huge earth quake in Japan it hasn't been the same. After seeing the volcano I met my roomie and Amber in the Fitness center and ended the night with them cycling, goofing off and dancing in the arobics room till midnight.
Wednesday, my boss gave me a couple hours off in the middle of the day and I was finally able to do my christmas shopping for my family, all I need to do now is wrap them and send them, hopefully I can make time to do that this week!
Thursday was my favorite day! It was Anjulia's birthday, Anjulia came on board two weeks ago to help out the spa during the holidays. She is a character! always full of energy, I love it. She currently lives in Honolulu and works at the Mandara spa in the Hilton where we had our training. I had all of thursday off and her and Jessica were kind enough to let me tag along on their Hike up the Na'Pali Coast in Kauai. I had been dying to hike the Na'Pali Coast, every Friday we sail by it and its gorgeous, it takes us about 45minutes just to sail along it. We woke up early, rented a car then drove to our destination. The hike we did was only two miles to the beach, it was rainy off and on and super muddy but made for a great adventure in the rainforest trying not to slip and fall on our butts. Every few steps I would stop and look out at the blue ocean or along the coast, gasp and say "WOOOOW IT'S BEAUTIFUUUUL!!", the girls would just laugh at me. It was incredible, God is incredible. I was actually able to bring my camera and shoot some pictures of nature, it was so exciting! Before hitting the trail we stopped to look at some caves which was awesome. Right before the trail ended at the beach there was a sign that said Don't go in the water because of unseen currents and 82 people have died, the waves were huge! and some people were crazy enough to go in the water. We arrived to the beach and I was soooooo excited to see that there were stones stacked EVERYWHERE! it was rock heaven. I was told they are like that on the beaches everywhere but it was the first time I had seen it and I would stack stones like that at the beach back home in Cali. Apparently there's a meaning behind I don't know it entirely but the stones are prayers and if you take one or knock them over its bad luck. Of course, I made my own stone tower. At the beach there was also four cats, which reminded me of our kittys back home. I'll have to find time to post some pictures for all of you to see. Later in the evening we met up with the rest of the spa and went to Duke's to celebrate Anjulia's Birthday dinner. Duke's is close enough to the ship to walk so we always walk over there and right when we arrived it started pouring rain! we were so lucky to make it before the rain came! and when Anjulia and I headed back to the ship, halfway there it started to rain again we ran as fast as we could, but were still soaked it was so funny.
Friday everyone was exhausted from the week, and just made for a really long day. We got news that my co worker, Anzhela, the only other stylist in the salon besides myself, is being medically disembarked because she has been having pain in her wrist and she is leaving TODAY to see a specialist back home. Which leaves me completely by myself in the salon for the holidays as of now, unless we are able to find someone to fill in but currently no one wants to leave home to work for the holidays. Your prayers are much appreciated through this time because I am will be incredibly, incredibly busy and beat. It'll be rough for the next couple of weeks but on the brighter side, I will be making B-A-N-K! I just hope I'll have a chance to breathe once in a while.
I believe thats about it for now, there's a lot of fun things coming up for the holidays, I can't wait to update you about it all! I'd love to hear how the holidays are going back home, I wish I was with my family in Big Bear right now playing in the snow! I'll have to make time to make a sandman on the beach:P
I'm tyring to fill out all my postcards and sent as soon as possible so hopefully I will get them out before the end of the week! Only 99 days till I come home for dry dock! Hope all is well in Cali<3
