I'm coming up on my 8th week! after this only 7 months to go!!
WEEK 7- Sunday I had the entire day off in Maui. The girls and myself got up at 7am to go to Boot Camp, it's a pretty intense workout class we have in the fitness center. The first time we all went we were beat, my entire body was sore for three days!
After Boot Camp I got ready and made sure I went to the church service down the street from the ship called Awakening, right when I walked in the doors pastor Stephen greeted me with a hug. The church is about two years old and incredibly tiny, there was about 15 people in the room. After the service I had a chance to talk with Stephen, Ironically he is from Orange County and graduated from Vanguard where I have quite a few friends that attended. Sadly I got a bad vibe after speaking with him and wont be returning to the church, I'll just stick with watching my home church's service online sunday mornings.
After church I met up with my Co Workers ,Siliva and Amber, we took a 45minute bus ride to the other side of the island to a little town called Lahaina. Lahaina is beautiful! It's right on the beach with a ton of little shops and art galleries and restaurants. I bought about 30 vintage post cards to send to my friends back home. After walking around a bit we ate a really nice dinner at Kimo's over looking the ocean and we got to watch the sunset<3 It was a very very long day.
The salon started off pretty busy the beginning of the week, there were a lot of appointments for nails. I really do not like doing nails, after this contract I don't want to do nails ever again, but I'll do them for now. Pedicures are our most expensive service which makes me the most money but some people really don't have the cutest feet and literally the only thing that gets me through every pedicure is remembering that Jesus washed his disciples' feet (John 13:1-17) which turns it into a pretty humbling experience. The rest of the week went by fast but was fairly slow in the salon, even when I didn't have clients I was still keeping busy and doing my coworkers hair. Wednesday I got a few hours off in Kona, I love Kona and dont get much time off there, I really wanted to go out and paddle board but it was over cast and the waters were very choppy. Thursday I had the privilege of cutting my Boss's hair, we chopped off about 5 inches and she really liked her cut ( :D *brownie points!)
Friday was my dad's birthday, I woke up at 6am and could not fall back asleep for the life of me so I got off the ship and walked down to Kalapaki beach and gave him a call and got to catch up with him for a bit which was very nice, I love him so much and I miss my entire family. I did some reading for a bit before I had to get back on the ship for work and called my friend Steph who is incredible, she is such a huge encouragement, I'm so blessed to have her in my life even being miles away, I miss going to coffee with her and digging into the word or going on our spontaneous adventures I can't wait to see her again in 106 days!
Overall this week turned out very positive it was nice to get a little break before the holidays. Even though its tough being away from home and its hard work every single day, God has given me this incredible peace and comfort. I realized that my focus wasn't completely in the right place and I need to focus on myself in the now, I know without a doubt he's got an amazing plan for my life I have no idea what's in store for my future especially when I arrive back home but it makes for a pretty great adventure. May his will be done in my life.
Can't wait to be home in march! Miss you all!!
