WEEK 12- 3 months down, 6 months to go!! This week went by really slow, i kept busy at work but the days felt super long i think it was because i was looking forward to the weekend to see Wicked!
there really wasn't anything exciting that went on earlier in the week that i can remember but thursday was a lot of fun.
Silvia, Lauren and Amber rented a car and hiked the na'pali coast and then came back to the ship to pick me up and we headed to the beach. While sitting in traffic we passed by some construction workers and Silvia yells "hi Eric!" out the window, we're all you know him? and she apparently met him on the internet but never in person. After we were done at the beach we stopped at this amazing hole in the wall mexican food place where these two gentlemen were play an acoustic set, and sounded lovely! After dinner we met up with Silvia's friend Eric and his co-workers, it turned out to be a really spontaneous night.
Friday as always was long, I had an 11yr old girl come in to get her hair curled her hair was gorgeous, a natural perfect red copper color and thick! i loved it and told her to never ever color her hair. She was from New Zealand and it was her first time to the states, i got a kick out of her. She thought it was so strange we ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and says we have very thick accents. I got her to do her best impression of an american accent and she plugged her nose and said "i would like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich" i started cracking up, she did pretty well. They all think we sound a bit nasally apparently and always tends to do a southern impression, its so funny! that just about was the highlight of my day.
Saturday Amber and i got up early to get some breakfast and head over to see Wicked! We ended up at the Nordstrom cafe in the Ala Moana mall in honolulu, which is one of the coolest malls i've ever been to and always seem to get lost at. After breakfast we walked over to the Neal S. Blaisdell Center and met up with my friend, Lauren Boyd, who is currently on the Wicked tour. It was great to see her, kinda cool to see someone from back home out on the island:] she took us back stage and we met Elphaba and she showed us all the costumes and explained how everything worked and how much money they spend on the tour it was pretty awesome. We also got to walk on the stage before the show. Lauren had already taken me on a backstage tour of Wicked back in LA at the Pantages but i thought it was pretty cool for Amber to get to see all that before the show since it was her first time seeing Wicked. After the backstage tour Amber and i were sitting at a table and this young good-looking couple came up and asked if they could share half of our table with them so they could eat their food and we said sure! We got to talking with them and i told them how my friend was in the show and how we worked on the ship and where we were from and got to know them a little. Noel, the wife, asked if we had walked to the concert hall from the ship and we said yes, and they offered to give us a ride after the show so we didn't have to wait for a taxi since we had to rush to work afterward. They were very very nice so we met up with them after the show and they gave us a ride back which worked out perfectly because they had to drive that way anyway. They were incredibly nice people, Hawaiians are so nice and caring, they literally saved us because we would have been late getting back to the ship.
Well those are pretty much the highlights of my week, It is now the middle of my 13th week on the ship and this week has been great, nothing too exciting but its just been going well and i realized today while walking in Kona this morning that Hawaii makes me smile. I enjoy just walking around the islands, its a beautiful place and i'm blessed to have this amazing experience.
I'll catch you guys up on everything on saturday<3 miss you!
