I always look forward to the days I can just sit down relax, blog and drink a Latte. (I like it a Latte) Feels nice to get some alone time and reflect on my week. It's really crazy to only be 13 weeks in and see so much change in myself from when I first started on the ship. I'm really looking forward to what the next months will bring.
WEEK 13- This week was so much fun, I'm finally getting into the swing of things and living life day by day with whatever comes my way. Sunday my co workers Alana, Lauren and Amber rented a car and picked me up from the ship when I jumped ship at two, we stopped in Paia to do a little shopping where I bought these adorable anchor earrings. Then we drove up to Haleakala, The top of the World, to watch the sunset. It was a gorgeous sight! We were above the clouds and it was freezing cold, you would have never thought it could possibly get that cold in Hawaii. It was a very very long drive up the mountain but totally worth it, there was so much country to drive through in Maui it was beautiful! The drive back the sun was setting and it was so pretty to see the moon and the sunset together. After Haleakala we headed back to Paia to eat dinner at one of our favorite places, Fatbread, and met up with Silvia and her friend.
Monday my Roomie had surgery on her leg, she had melanoma so she wasn't doing very much massaging the whole week. Throughout the week I had the privilege of cutting all of the Captain's hair on board. We have two new captains that will be taking over and the old ones are going on vacation until dry dock. I got a chance to chat with our new Captain, Ron. Ron just got married to a former spa girl a few months ago and he absolutely loves biking, it's kinda funny how obsessed he is with it.
Tuesday after drill, we had our monthly Captains meeting, they showed us the plans for refurbishing the ship during dry dock and it's going to be a ton of work to get done within 8 days. They're putting in new carpets, a new restaurant, changing some of the bars, fixing up our crew bar and crew mess, putting in wifi, new flat screen tvs in all the cabins, new suites and four will have the biggest balconies in the industry, fixing up the balconies and a ton of other things I didn't even mention but there is a lot do be done.
Thursday, I looked out my window at work in the morning and it was beautiful outside so I decided I wanted to go kayaking when I was off at two. By the time I walked off the ship it was overcast and rainy and not a very good day to do anything. I met up with my co worker Gina at Kalapaki beach and we came up with a few back up plans for the evening. We decided we could call our excursion friends on the ship and see if they had any more tickets for the Lua but they didn't have anymore room. Then we called the spa to see if we might be able to get a massage from one of our co workers but no one was available. So because all our other plans fell through we walked to the lighthouse to take photos and watch the sunset which turned out to be a very lovely evening. On our way over to the lighthouse we ran into Gina's friend Aaron riding his bike, we invited him on our adventure to the lighthouse. Aaron is an officer on the ship, a tall free spirited gentleman with super curly hair, he has an interest in photography and takes amazing photos when he travels, he's been all over the world! I'm pretty jealous. Because Aaron was on his bike he just met up with Gina and myself later at the lighthouse. On our way over there I saw my first whale, just the tail of it a few times but it was pretty exciting to finally see an animal in Hawaii, I hadn't seen anything for the three months I have been here. While we were at the lighthouse I went off taking photos on the other side and when I came back I told Aaron how I saw a whale earlier! he just laughed and said we just saw five of them just a few minutes ago. I guess I was just in the zone with my photography. The sunset was so pretty that day, such a peaceful place with the scenery and the waves crashing by the lighthouse. After the lighthouse Aaron invited us to dinner with my roomie, Katia and her boyfriend, Patrick, he's another officer on the ship. Patrick and Aaron have a little old car they drive around on the island so we all squeezed into the car and picked up Katia and Amber and headed to an italian resturtaunt. I forget the name of the place but the food was amazing. After dinner we went to a bar up the road called Trees where we had met up with Silvia's construction worker friends the thursday before. It was fun place with an older crowd and live music, I enjoyed people watching in that place trying to figure out who was a local and who was on vacation.
Friday flew by, I saw my first hawaiian dolphin out my window at work once we left port! After work all the spa girls went for sushi on the ship at East meets West. I loved being there and seeing all of us together it's pretty awesome that we all get along so well and we all love being together, I'm really going to miss it when we get new people and the other girls leave.
My roomie leaves next week and Charmaine comes back on saturday so I will finally have someone to help me in the salon. Amber will be moving in with me once Katia leaves. I will miss her soooo much but I'm really excited that she gets to go home, she's been on the ship for 12 months! She really needs to go home and of course recover from her surgery.
My boss took me aside the other day and said although we didn't hit our target for the month of December in the salon we are still doing better than other ships which is pretty awesome considering I was the only one working in the salon with some help from Silvia. My boss was very pleased:]
62 Days till dry dock! Still can't wait to come home!! I wish I had more time to FaceTime and catch up with friends! Love you & Miss you all!
I'm heading to the beach to watch the sunset<3
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. -Romans 8:37-39
