Sorry for the late update, Saturday I was busy trying to buy my brother and myself plane tickets for my month long vacation when I'm finished with my contract and I had to work at 11:30am in the terminal so I Didn't have much time to write my blog.
WEEK 31- Sunday was awesome! It was my day off so I went to church with Melissa in the morning. Ryan and Sharina once again, picked us up from the ship and we piled into the car with their four kids and headed to Grace Bible Church. During worship this weekend they had a saxophone player playing with the worship band, I thought it was pretty cool. The gentleman who leads worship every Sunday gave the message this week as well. After the service the lady who usually sits next to us asked Melissa if she could pray for her because it was her Aloha week on the ship and won't be coming back to Hawaii, she will be working on the Norwegian Ship, The Jade, cruising around Europe. God has really opened some doors for her, I'm really excited for her new endeavor. After church Sharina and Ryan invited us to their house for lunch. They live up in the hills on Maui with a gorgeous view of the island. They have a trampoline! While Sharina was getting lunch ready Melissa and I went to jump on the trampoline with the kids. We played duck, duck, goose but every time Lucas was the ducker instead of goose he would say fish! I thought it was hilarious. Those kids are adorable. Once lunch was ready we went inside and sat at the table to eat. Lucas lead us in a hawaiian prayer that the kids learned in school, giving thanks to God for the meal. It's a cute children's prayer that I would love to teach my niece. After we finished eating one of the girls, Ryly, brought out her ukulele and played us a few songs. I've really been wanting a ukulele for the past couple months so I could learn to play, I told her she'll have to teach me to play sometime. We made our way out to the front balcony and ate some dessert. At that time Sharina asked the kids to ask Melissa and I some questions to get to know us. Eventually I ended up playing with the girl's hair which I loved, can't wait till my niece has more hair to play with! Before Sharina took Melissa and I back to the ship we prayed for Melissa and her new job. I had a great time, it was so awesome to be at a friends home, especially a loving christian family. Sharina dropped me off at the Queens mall so I could meet up with Michelle and catch the bus to Lahaina. We exchanged numbers before I got out of the car so I could give them a call when I had a Sunday off to go to church, I told Sharina I'll have to go surfing with her one of these days because she loves to surf, she surfs about three times a week or more.
Michelle and I finally caught the bus to Lahaina. On the bus ride I had a chance to Tango with my sister and see my niece:] In Lahaina we met up with Amber by the huge banyan tree (I can't wait for my parents to see this giant tree) We went to a restaurant called cheeseburger in paradise, Its decorated like a little hawaiian shack you would see in the the movies, while I was sitting there looking around soaking it all in I still thought it was pretty incredible that I was in hawaii… years ago I would have never thought I would have been in such a place living one of my dreams, I am blessed beyond belief, living life and loving it! We came across a ukulele shop that Amber had stopped by earlier and I bought a ukulele. Mike, the guy who sold it to me, showed me a quick picking exercise, he said I caught on really fast and I should do well if I keep practicing. We walked down to a grassy park area right on the ocean to watch the sunset, unfortunately it was cloudy and we didn't see the sun setting. We walked around some of the shops some more and I found a shirt of a dinosaur that said Dorkasaurus, I sent a picture of it to Melissa because she loves dinosaurs and she asked me to buy it for her. We had dinner at a Pizza restaurant and then caught the 8:30 bus back to the ship.
Monday slept in and worked.
Tuesday didn't work till 11am which was wonderful. I got some good sleep this week. During lunch they had a crew BBQ out on the lanai. Kelly came and joined me, I thought he had already finished his contract because I hadn't seen him in two weeks but he said this week was his Aloha week. We didn't talk much because they had a DJ playing unreasonably loud and we had to practically yell. He mentioned he was trying to get a hold of me on the ship on Sunday to go flying and of course I had the entire day off and was already off the ship early. I was so sad I didn't get a chance to go flying! maybe next contract I could. Michelle and I didn't have a very good day at work so we met up for a drink at Pinks Champagne with Brendan. While I was waiting to go to Pinks I picked up my ukulele and learned 7 chords within a half hour. The only thing I have trouble with is strumming but that was the first time I had picked it up and actually tried learning something since I bought it so I think It was productive. All I want to do now is sit and learn but Its hard to find the time.
Wednesday I had a man, named Butch, walk in and ask if I was available to do a haircut, he came at a good time and I was able to take him. He lost one of his buttons from his shirt when he walked in and ended up finding it on the floor when we were walking out. I told him I had a needle and thread in my purse and I could sew it back on for him. He went out to the pool for a bit while I sewed it, I told Gina and Michelle how I missed sewing and I was actually excited just to sew one button, I guess it was even more of a pleasure because I was helping someone out. Butch came back and picked it up and left me a $45 tip! He was very thankful and I saw him a few times throughout the week and he made an effort to say hi every time.
Thursday was a long day at work and I didn't want to get off the ship so Michelle and I went to Modernos for dinner. Modernos is the Brazilian restaurant they had been working on since dry dock. They finally finished it and opened it on Sunday for a mock run for some of the crew. Michelle and Amber and I had no idea they were doing a mock run and missed out on it because we were off the ship. Mondernos is now probably my favorite restaurant on the ship, the salad bar is delicious, the soup is very good, the garlic & sea salt sirloin is the best, the cinnamon pineapple is amazing, and the fried bananas.. mmm everything Is sooo good! I can't wait for my parents to get to try it, I'm definitely taking them there!
Friday I burned my finger pretty bad on my flat iron while working on one of my clients:[ Amber moved out and moved in with Katia so Michelle could move in with me. Gina Moved in with Tina. We did some moving around because Gina couldn't stand having Michelle's alarm go off at 5am every morning and I said it wouldn't be a big deal for me because I don't work till ten most days, and we also had to make some room for the two new massage therapist coming on June 1st. Michelle hasn't moved in yet but with Amber out, my cabin is practically empty. I didn't realize I had so little, but I like it that way, just means I have less to take home. I guess I've really become a minimalist since I've been here. Amber says with her and Katia in one cabin they have like no room at all. It was weird walking into my cabin and Amber not being there. I think it'll be fun having Michelle as a roomie, I'm excited.
Like I said earlier, Saturday I got up early to go to Starbucks and bought my brother and myself our tickets to New York and London so we can already start planning this epic adventure! There are so many exciting things to look forward to this summer, its gonna be a blast.

Mamma Vasquez You are making me so hungry with all the food you eat! I'm at the beach bungalow with Daddy this weekend and we'll be getting breakfast at La Crema in Seal Beach. You will have to come stay in Sunset Beach during your time off. I need to know your itinerary for your Epic Adventure! My cousin Diana lives in NY and says you can stay at her place. She has a key with your name on it. She leaves on Aug. 3rd but your welcome to stay. How nice! Can't wait to see you IN HAWAII!!!
