WoW 30 weeks!! After looking at my bank account I was really weighing the pros and cons of doing another contract. As much as I miss my family and being home, I feel way more confident in coming back for one more contract than trying to find a job or two in Cali. I'm young and I am blessed with this great job for the time being and will know what to expect the next time around. A huge plus is practically our entire dream team is coming back and I love working with these ladies, I know I won't have another opportunity for that. I can go on and on about the pros, I figure I could suck it up and do pedicures every once in a while… being able to go surfing on my day off …in hawaii…. is totally worth doing a few pedicures.
Please keep me in your prayers, I only want the Lord's will.
WEEK 30- Sunday Mothers day! I told Charmaine to take Sunday off because it was Mothers day so she agreed to it, sadly it was raining all day. While I was busy at work I wished I was at a coffee shop reading a book.
Monday we had drill and the Captains meeting. Our captain is so funny, everyone wishes he was their grandpa he's a cute little old man. His daughter was actually sailing this week, she is gorgeous! At the meeting Michelle got a vacation hero award, she's doing very well with this being her first time on ships.
Tuesday After work Jessica, Debbie, Charmaine and I had dinner at Skyline. Charmaine rarely goes out and she really loved eating at skyline, I think her and Debbie are going to try to go every tuesday for dinner. After dinner when the server came to drop off our checks she came over to me and handed me a paper and said, "here this is from my friend he thinks you're really pretty but is too shy to say hi". So I have one of the crew members as a secret admirer. I laughed and told her I'll add it to my list of admirers and the girls all agreed.
Wednesday I got up early to take the first tender off the ship in Kona so I could get breakfast at the coffee shop across the way, Menehune. I face timed with my brother for a bit and then headed back to the ship for work. Later in the evening a man had some heart issues, a heart attack or something and they had to call the stretcher team on the intercom then not too long after there was a 75yr old man that fell down the stairs and completely snapped his arm and pretty much stripped his arm of his flesh, so they had to call the stretcher team again. Safety Brian is the one who had to take care of it and he said that it was so disgusting. He told us about how the guy kept apologizing for the inconvenience and Brian was thinking… dude don't be sorry you need help your arm practically fell off. Theres some crazy stuff that happens on this ship.
Thursday was awesome. A wonderful day! It was mine and Michelle's day off. I slept in until she was finished with her morning classes and then we met Brian ( safety Brian), one of the firefighters on board, to go cruise the island of Kauai. We had looked at the weather earlier in the week and it said it would be rainy so I didn't think it was gunna be a good dau to go sight seeing but once we got off the ship the weather was perfect! for the entire day!! We took the shuttle from the ship to the car rental place and rented a blue convertible mustang, we cruised in style… it was a blast! Come to think of it, it was my first time in a convertible. Brian didn't really have any plans on where to go and Michelle really hadn't seen much of the island so I took advantage of it and decided to go to all the places I hadn't been yet. The first stop was Waimea Canyon It's absolutely beautiful! Definitely a place to go if you want to do some sight seeing on the island. Next was lunch, we went to Poi'pu beach and got lunch at a restaurant on the beach called Brennecke's, really good food if you're looking for a place to eat at Poi'pu and the view of the beach is very pretty. Poi'pu beach is gorgeous I don't know why I hadn't gone this whole time after lunch we laid out in the sun and took a nap for about two and a half hours it was great, I don't think I've actually fallen asleep on the beach since I've been here. Laying on the sand we saw two monk seals and a gigantic turtle! I had never been near a turtle so huge, It was as big as me if I curled up in a ball. I took a picture next to it and sent it to Amber, she was so jealous. After laying on the beach I said, "lets go do something awesome." We drove over to Kapaa, just a small little town that I had been to before but thought it might be something Michelle would like but everything was pretty much closed so we continued on to Princeville, I figured we could find somewhere to eat at their little shopping place. I told Michelle about the last time I was there and how there were two guys playing acoustic and they were amazing. Those same guys just so happened to be there again and she agreed, they were amazing. Most of the places were already closed and we didn't stay to listen to the guys play, we hopped in the convertible and continued our adventure. Brian wanted to take us to this beautiful secret beach but he couldn't remember the street we needed to turn on so we kept driving and I saw a sign that read "Light house next two rights". So I said lets go to the light house!! My friend steph from back home loves light houses and she had just tagged me in a picture of the first light house we went to so I had to take a picture for her. Once we reached The Kilauea lighthouse the road was closed to actually walk up to it and tour the place so we took a picture of it from afar. One thing to remember in Kauai is everything closes early, around 5pm or so, the lighthouse closes at 4pm, so start your day early. For dinner we went to the Italian restaurant that I had been to before the first night I met Aaron Kleinerman. That place is sooooo good totally something I recommend to try. After dinner we went back to the ship to shower, I was so drained from the sun but Michelle still wanted to go out so I went with her to Mariachis for a margarita and then we met up with Brian at the Tavern and headed back to the ship.
Friday I didn't have to start work till ten, which typically I'd start at 8am so that was great. It was a full day. During lunch I went to my cabin to eat my leftovers from the night before and turned on the TV and started watching Les Miserables. After work we had our meeting and then I did bootcamp with Michelle. She had told me about how she did this custom bootcamp for a couple passengers on board that burns 1,000 calories in an hour and she wanted to test it out with me. Eric and Tina ended up joining us for the bootcamp which was great because I'd much rather workout with a class than by myself. I just about died just during the warm up, I really need to get in the habit of exercising and not just taking the stairs, its difficult with the long hours we work. I told Michelle I want to do it again but she just has to tell me when and make me go haha because I'd much rather sleep.
Last night I was really missing my family, especially my niece, she's getting so big so fast and I'm missing out on it. I really can't wait for this vacation to come, Just 9 more weeks!
My parents got approved to come aboard on June 29th!! I'm so excited for them to see the ship and all the things I get to enjoy every week :D we gotta get their itinerary together!

Mamma Vasquez I'm a little behind reading your blogs. Interesting things can happen on board a ship. One of my seniors fell and dislocated his shoulder. Stuff like this happens all the time and any where. Sad that it would happen to this man on his cruise. :-(
