It's so nice to be back at starbucks, I enjoy my alone time. Curently I'm listening to She & Him's new album, I love it! They're going on tour this summer but all their shows are in june and the start of july and I won't be back by then :( Alex and Melissa came by starbucks and said hello, I told them my story about how I met Zooey Deschanel, best night ever!
WEEK 29- Sunday I finally got a chance to go to church with Melissa. She goes to Grace Bible church in Maui. There's a couple, Sharina and Ryan, from the church that pick her up every sunday from the ship so I met her outside that morning and they gave us a ride. We squeezed into their van with their four adorable children. Ryan just so happened to be giving the message that day, which he really only fills in like once or twice a year so that was pretty awesome to get a chance to hear the sermon from him. The first Sunday of every month is Ohana sunday (Ohana means family… and family means nobody gets left behind. hahaha) So after the service they had activities for all the families, mostly the children, like face painting, a piñata, Boba drinks, temporary tattoos, coloring and other crafts. I loved it, Hawaiians are super family oriented and welcoming, I can't wait to get another Sunday off to go.
After church Sharina and Ryan dropped us off back at the ship and I met up with Michelle to go to the laundromat and do laundry. I started to rain on our walk over there. On our way back we heard an old school fire alarm going off at the Lamp shop next to the laundromat and we thought we might have smelled smoke so we called the fire department just in case. It was Sunday so the shop was closed, even if there wasn't a fire we still had no idea what would have set off the alarm. We stayed till the firemen came and they wrote down our information and then we left. One of the firemen jokingly said the alarm will probably turn off once we leave.
Michelle and I walked to Queens mall to meet up with Amber and Debbie at Fernando's Mexican grill for Cinco De Mayo. On the way over we saw a guy riding his bike wearing a poncho, sombrero and mustache, a pretty funny thing to see in hawaii.
After eating at Fernando's Amber, Michelle and I took the bus to Kihei. Kihei is a cool little town in Maui, it was mine and Michelle's first time there and I really want to go back during the day sometime it looked like there was lots to do and theres a huge whale I want to take a picture by. When we got off the bus we found a karaoke bar across the street called "Life's a Beach". We walked in and there was a group of people with sombreros and mustaches drawn on their faces and one of the guys tried drawing one on our face but we settled to just drawn ones on our fingers. Michelle found a sombrero on the table and the person working there just told us we could have it. Later Michelle some how got another one from someone else when we were walking around. We tried to make it our goal to find a third by the end of the night but that didn't happen. Brendan, from excursions, met up with us once he got off work and we ran into Trevor, from the "Oh what a Night" cast, and a couple of his friends. We got back to the Ship by 11pm and went to Gina and Michelle's cabin and started talking to Gina in spanish with our Sombreros and mustaches but spanish meaning words like taco, burrito, tortilla, nachos, adios amiga, complentos. Gina knows spanish so she thought our attempt was hilarious.
Monday I woke up early to go to the post office to send my mom & sister their Mothers Day gifts. On my walk back I called my sister to chat for a bit and it started pouring rain. I took a shower in the morning figuring my hair would be dry by the time I got back to the ship to get ready for work but once I got back I was drenched. This week we had Caludio, from Steiner's corporate office on board for the week, he was installing our new computer system and training us on it. We had to be on our best behavior and looking "Steiner appropriate" with full makeup and our hair up.
Tuesday I slept in till I had to be at Drill, this week we also had Coast guard on board so drill took a little longer than usual. At work I met a guest from Ontario, CA who use to live in west covina about a block away from where I live. This week I actually met a few people who use to live in the Covina area which is odd because I never run into people from Cali and If I do they're all from up north. That evening Gina, Amber, Debbie and I went to eat at Skyline for dinner for the swordfish special.
Wednesday was work work work. My hands are really getting tired from working so much, its so much strain on our bodies working this much, I'm really ready for a break. My wrists are starting to hurt and I'm too young to be in pain like that. That night we went to the White hot party in Mardigras for Silvia's Aloha.
Thursday they had a crew bowling night and all the girls agreed to come but then decided not to go anymore so I just went with Alex. Les Mis was playing on the tv so I watched that until Alex got off work. We got to the bowling alley and I didn't know anyone from crew so Alex and I played a few games by ourselves. It was cosmic bowling and only $20 for the entire night to play as many games as we wanted. I started off doing well and Alex was doing terrible but after a few games he started doing better and I started doing worse. My wrist started bothering me from bowling so we called it quits and went to the Tavern to get some Pepe's tacos and then I headed back to the ship.
Friday was a typical busy day. I finally got a chance to go to personnel and drop off my paperwork to try and get my parents on board, I really hope they get approved I want them to see the ship so bad! After work the spa team met up in crew bar to say our goodbyes to Silvia.
It's now 11am and only 9.99 weeks left! 69days. Only1679 hours.. that doesn't sound like much at all!!
Happy Mothers day to my Mommy! wish I could be home to celebrate but I'll be home soon enough! :]
