Saturday I woke up late and the water was off so needless to say, I didn't make it to Starbucks in the morning. These weeks have been flying by and it's bitter sweet… but mostly sweet, I'm excited to move on from this ship.
WEEK28- Sunday I worked all day and then ate at skyline with Michelle and Tina.Trevor joined us later, he's a performer in the "Oh what a night" show on board. I met him his first week on the ship because he came in for a haircut and Michelle knows him because she just knows pretty much everyone. We ended up staying there till 10:30 chatting and I lost track of time and was suppose to meet Alex in the photo studio so he could help me with some photo editing again. I walked over to the studio to see if he was still there, him and Melissa were still working so I just told him we should just edit another time. I sat and talked with them a while Alex said he ended up buying the book "Wild at heart" and thinks its a great book although he's only read the first 60 pages. They told me about how they're renting a car and driving up to Haleakale at 3am to watch the sun rise and take pictures. I think that would be super cool to see because you're above the clouds when the sun rises but I couldn't do it, I need my sleep.
Monday I went grocery shopping in the morning real quick at whole foods. During lunch Kelly, our second officer on board, sat with me at Aloha. Kelly is from Alaska but lives on Oahu and he's a pilot! He told me I should go flying with him sometime in Maui because he has a plane he can use there. I'm really hoping we'll get to go sometime soon that would be amazing.
Tuesday I woke up early and went to Michelle's yoga class on the 13th deck on the basketball court. She only had one lady show up for her Pilates class so I figured I would stay and join. We had our weekly drill and after drill everyone was talking about how excited they were for taco tuesday in Aloha, not just talking about it… they were singing about it. It's pretty much our favorite day of the week in the Aloha cafe. During our taco tuesday lunch I sat with Melissa, from the photography department, and a few other girls from the spa. Melissa alway has the greatest stories… she asks us if we heard what happened in the Cadillac Diner on the ship. We all say no and she goes on to tell us there was this obese person eating dinner there and then ordered dessert and finished it… and just as they start to get up to leave the table the chair collapsed, straight out flattened, steel bent and all. She went on to say how if she was a server she would just burst out laughing if she saw that. We told her about the sliding glass doors we have in the salon that people run into constantly and leave their face printed on the window or the one lady who came barging in, angry and looking for her friend and walked into the glass door and broke her glass of wine. Melissa told us another story about Alex and how in the photo gallery a lady rammed her shoulder into one of the panels and Alex started laughing at her and she went up to him and hit him and said don't laugh at me! and then a different lady came in saying "where's my pineapple picture?!" and he offered to help her and asked what time she left the ship that day and she said "don't ask difficult questions!" so he left her to find it herself because she was being rude and he was upset so he turns around quickly and rams his shoulder into the panel and that lady he laughed at earlier was laughing at him. These stories we have about our passengers are hilarious.
Wednesday after work I went to watch the "Oh what a night" show on board with Michelle. It's a tribute to the four seasons and a pretty fun show. Michelle knows the whole cast so she wanted to see their talent. Which they have an incredible gig only working one night a week and staying in super nice cabins and just getting to enjoy the islands, I wish I could do that.
Thursday was mine and Amber's day off and we slept in till ten. The only reason we woke up was because of cabin inspections and Amber and I were still in bed when our boss came knocking on our door. We finally got up and headed to Kalapaki beach to take some surfing lessons. We rented our boards from The beach boys where we usually get our paddle boards from and our instructor was Marlo. Marlo was a great teacher, very thorough, I was able to stand up on the board almost every wave, its was a blast and can't wait to do it again! I got sun burned on the back of my legs,
I really need to remember sun screen. Marlo said that he surfs with Aaron on thursdays, when we finished our lesson I sent Aaron a picture and said I can't wait to go surfing with him when he gets back from vacation. We saw Alex walking by, going to sit on the beach and read, I told him how much fun surfing was and that he had to try it sometime. We met up with Michelle and went to the Ferrel Pig for lunch, I texted Alex to join us and Silvia met up with us later. The Ferrel Pig has great burgers everyone would always tell me I needed to eat there so I was glad I finally got a chance to check it out, it was really good. Once we finished lunch I went to get a pedicure while Amber and Silvia laid out on the beach. After my pedicure I came back to the ship and Facetimed with my bestie, Mikaella and I got to meet Michelle's boyfriend, Ben, over Skype. Once Silvia and Amber came back to the ship we went the eat tacos at Pepe's, It was finally my first time trying them and they were delicious! It's a taco stand near the ship I've been wanting to try for months now. Silvia's new boyfriend, michael, came with us as well, he's a contractor on the ship from Portland Oregon. Super fun and out going guy with a mustache, we like to call him Mustache Mike. After tacos we went to the beach and played with a glow in the dark frisbee, we ran into some of Mustache Mike's contractor friends on the way and they joined us at the beach. Michelle showed up and I went with her to meet up with some crew members she knows at the mexican restaurant, Mariachi's. We ended the night at the Tavern and pretty much saw everyone from the ship there.
Friday I didn't work till ten, once I got to work I was booked solid but it made the time go by super fast, I was exhausted by the end of the night doing 5 shampoos and blowdrys in a row can wear you out. After our spa meeting the team went to sushi at East meets West for Alana's Aloha. I said we all should share our favorite memories of Alana. Amber said it was when they did a couples massage for an asian couple and in the room there were towels made into swans that made a heart and after they asked the couple to change and lay on the massage table and the swans were gone and Alana and Amber were wondering what was missing and why the couple had towels on them. haha. Silvia said it was horseback riding with Alana, it was her first time and she was hilarious the entire ride. Of course mine was when we went paddle boarding and her flailing in the water and myself laughing so hard I fall off my board into the water. After dinner I walked back to our cabins with Michelle and then remember it's probably the last time I'll get to see Alana so I walked back to the restaurant to get a picture with her, then we heard my friend Michael playing his Michael Buble set at the Pink's Champagne so Alana and I went there for the rest of the evening. Michael had his wife and son on board visiting from Irvine, I had a chance to meet them earlier in the week, apparently his wife is really involved at Saddleback Church. Michael had her go up to sing and harmonize with her on a few songs, they sing very well together it's adorable.
Well Katia is back! Saturday morning she knocked on our cabin door to say hello. It's different having her back, she says it feels like a dream, I feel like she's missed out on a lot but I'm sure she doesn't feel that way. It's good to have her back. Silvia leaves this week:[ I told Alana and Silvia I'm sad that they are leaving but Katia is back so It's a fair trade ;P Everything keeps changing around here especially as of late. Three of us are leaving in July, It's gonna go by quick!
Just 73 days left. A whole TEN weeks to go, which means 10 full days off to complete our hawaii bucket list! Crazy!!
Hope all is well in Cali! I miss it!
