This entire week felt like it was just one day, it flew by so fast! It was a really great week, I had a lot of time just chatting with friends and had some pretty great conversations and met some really cool guests. I can't believe June is here!
WEEK 32- Saturday I booked mine and my brothers flights to New York and London! Then I face timed with my friend Stephanie, I had to leave starbucks and call her back because there was a guy sitting 4ft. behind me that smelled terrible and I couldn't stand it any longer. It's always a joy to talk to her. I worked at 11:30am in the terminal with Charmaine. Aaron, from excursions, got back that day from his vacation! We're planing on having days of surfing and ukulele playing. That night I had a hard time sleeping, I had the cabin to myself and was afraid I would over sleep and be late for work because I had to work at 8am. I think it probably because I was use to having Amber wake up and get ready before me. I ended up waking up at 2am thinking it was 2pm for some reason and I thought I had slept through half of my work shift and then realized it wasn't and went back to sleep.
Sunday summer season has begun! I had 12 clients for the day which mad it a busy cruise, but in the salon we're either busy or busier… I had some pretty awesome clients this week as well one was a retired judge another was a surgeon who preformed open heart surgery on babies (talk about a tough job) One lady I met is going to school for biblical studies, she had been diagnosed with something that the doctor said would be incurable so she started going to Foothill church in OC and started praying for healing. She ended up being healed and the doctors had no clue how, at that point she decided to go to bible college and help heal others.
My work day ended with doing an updo on a 15yr old girl it came out great, I asked her if she knew what she wanted to do after high school and I was surprised to hear she was set on going into the marines. After work we Gina, Tina, Debbie, and Mark took a cab to flatbread to join Aaron, Michelle and Amber for Aaron's welcome back dinner. Mark is Debbie's friend who use to work as a massage therapist in the spa years ago, he decided to come back to working on ships because he heard Debbie was coming back and he ended up getting hired as an NCL trainer, He's a fun guy, Him and Debbie are pretty much connected at the hip. For some reason I forgot how delicious flatbread is I'll really miss it when I'm done here.
Monday I worked 6:30am- 8:15pm I had to be at work early to do a lady's makeup for her vow renewal and it came out great! I was surprised at how fast I did her makeup. My next guest was Kristina who I had done a pedicure on the night before and she came back in for a manicure. We got to talking, she's vegan along with her husband and daughter inlaw, I asked her why she chose to be vegan and he daughter inlaw got her into it. They saw this video called forks over knifes and there was a man who was in bad health and was given a short time to live the doctors wanted to experiment with him and he decided to change his diet completely. She went on to tell me how healthy eating vegan is and then told me how sometimes she felt people in the church she went to didn't think it was biblical or what not. She didn't flaunt her veganess like some people feel they do thinking they're better than others, she was very humble about it. And the only reason she went on talking to me about it was because I asked her. I was very intrigued by the idea, I have had some older guests come in that are really healthy and had a special diet like only eating organic foods. Because I knew she was a christian I asked her if she knew of any good christian books to read because I'm always looking for a new one to read especially reading a book a month for my new years resolution. She told me about a book called "Jesus Calling" which is a short devotional book for everyday of the year that she loved and really helped her with her quiet time, I told her I'd look for it and then she offered to just give me hers! So after her appointment she came back up to the spa and gave it to me, what a blessing!
During lunch I sat with my friend Trevor, He knows I'm a christian and started asking me questions about my faith and what I believe. He's struggling with his beliefs, He's gay and grew up with a Pentecostal mother, praying in tongues and anointing him with oil and I'm sure it was pretty forceful and a bit scary for him. I told him how I feel about gays and that I hate the sin and not the person but I'm no better than he is because we all live in sin and no sin is greater than the other. I explained that I'm not for gay marriage because I don't believe it is right and it would be wrong of me encourage others to sin. I told him why I believed in God and initially that if he is really curious to do some research for himself, read the Bible and not just take my word for it or someone else's. I don't know if he will but he did ask me to pray for him and that's a great start.
Later that evening at work I was getting ready to leave and Amber's guest saw the book I was given and said she loved that book it and reads it every morning so that made me excited to start it.
Tuesday we had drill in the morning and after work I met up with Mark, Aaron and Debbie at Skyline for dinner.
Wednesday I woke up early to get off the ship to get some breakfast. Tina knows the owners at this restaurant called LuLu's and he gave 20 of the crew members a card that gets us free breakfast every time we eat there. So I joined her and her friends and decided to try it out and it was actually pretty decent for a free breakfast. A bird flew on the table and started eating our food we didn't finish right off the plate, these birds dont care. We stopped at Lava Java before going to LuLu's and I thought it was a pretty cool restaurant they had live music going in the morning, I just ordered an Iced chai but I'll have to try the food sometime. After work that day I got off around 8:30 and sat with Alex in Aloha, of course.. goat cheese and tomato bisque night. Alex and I ended up sitting there for nearly 3 hours talking, I didn't even realize we were sitting for that long.
Thursday my full day off!! I did laundry off the ship in the morning and ran into Gina at the laundromat, after doing laundry we had an early lunch and went to the Pho place next door that has the best Pho. I was suppose to meet up with Aaron to go surfing but laundry took longer than I expected and I ended up getting into a long conversation with Gina on our walk back to the ship. Once I got back I met up with Michelle to go grocery shopping for our "newly roomies" picnic on the beach. On the shuttle to Kmart we ran into the staff captain, Steve, he invited us to go to costco with him because he has a costco card to get us in, I jokingly said "Thanks dad!", because last time I cut his hair he said I'm as old as his daughter which makes him feel really old when he feels he like 14 at heart. Michelle and I couldn't decide on getting anything and its a bit overwhelming being at costco, we ended up just getting some hotdogs to eat and sat outside with the staff captain and chatted a bit. He told us about the celebrities that had cruised with NCL before and even said Oprah cruised and rented out one of the ships.
After our un productive grocery shopping, Michelle and I headed to Kalapaki beach. Later Brendan met up with us and the three of us went paddle boarding. Brendan said that was his second time paddle boarding his entire 6 years on the ship! I couldn't believe it! The job he had before didn't give him too much time off. I really wanted to surf that day but there weren't any waves. After paddle boarding we sat on the beach a little bit longer and I tried learning my ukulele, Brendan bought a ukulele a week before I did so we're both trying to learn. I looked up one of the songs I've been dying to learn and is pretty much the reason I bought it and decided I want to buy a jazz ukulele book, so I'll have to find one online some where. Alex was doing one of his photo sessions on the beach and came over and visited with us for a bit once he finished. He was shooting this older couple that were adorable together and I could tell he really enjoys his job, he really gets into shooting. After Alex left, Jess and Katia found us on the beach and joined us for a bit. They left and Michelle left to have dinner with some crew people. Brendan and I walked over to the Marriott and jumped in the hot tubs for a bit till we were ready to go eat dinner. I love swimming there the only bummer was there weren't any stars to look at that night. We headed over to Kalapaki Joes to get some dinner and Aaron joined us once he was done at the Luau. We passed around the ukulele and just talked. Later we ran into Amber and Gina on our way back to the ship and walked with them.
Friday I opened the Spa and of course it was just like any other friday, busy. I was tired all day, and I really need to get a massage, my body needs to relax. My hands were aching from paddle boarding the day before.
Today Is saturday and after having a week to myself in my cabin Michelle is finally moving in this morning. Audrey is back from vacation and we are getting two brand new massage therapists, who will be my cabin neighbors once they move in. I think this is the first time I'm not really nervous about new people coming, I kinda got use to things always changing and I'm probably just not caring because I'm leaving in 48 days and I'm ready to jump ship.
My parents booked their flights to come out here and have a couple days to spend on Oahu which is awesome because there's lots to do on that island, like going to pearl harbor, which I should check out with I'm off the ship. Just 28 days! They'll be here before I know it! :D!!! I'm so excited!
My soulmate, Danae, from back home will be in Kauai this week for her honeymoon and hopefully I'll get a chance to meet up with them and show them some of the island when I'm there on thursday, I got the whole day off so it should be a wonderful day. Can't wait!!

Mamma Vasquez Just read your blog to Daddy. He says it looks like you have no trouble making friends. He is so happy and proud of you! He likes that you are taking time to read and deepen your faith. I think it's great that you have so many people to have conversations with while working. I didn't know they let you do makeup! I would think that the gals doing skin care would do that! You do a wonderful job with makeup so it's good that you can do that. Love you and are so excited to be coming in 4 weeks!
