I had a crazy dream this morning before coming to starbucks, It felt so real. I had a dream that I woke up in my cabin but it was christmas time and my room was all decorated for christmas with a christmas tree and gifts with all my siblings names on them and I kept thinking how cool it was that my mom was able to get someone to decorate my cabin all the way on the ship but couldn't grasp how they got in my cabin while I was sleeping without waking me up and why I had my siblings gifts there, and thought maybe they'll all be visiting me on board! Then I look at my cabin door and it was gone, like someone had blown it up but it was nowhere to be found and then a few crew members came to my doorway to look inside but I had never seen them before but in my dream I somehow knew them and then I walk back further into my cabin to show them my decorations and say it looks just like home and turn around and theres a fireplace and turn around and see a couch and next thing I notice is that I'm back home in my living room with my parents on the couch and my Grandma on the other end of the couch but still decorated for christmas and I'm wondering how in the world I got there and they said I was fired from my job and was sent home but I don't ever remember what happened. I don't remember getting fired or the reason why or even packing my stuff or the flight home or the ride home from the airport I couldn't remember a thing and we were trying to figure out why and my dad is looking at papers and said it says here that you were late to work and you were fired but I couldn't remember ever being late. I started bawling in my dream and didn't understand why I wasn't able to finish my contract and was so upset because I didn't have enough money to buy a car or do the things I was saving up for. My dream felt so so real, I felt like I wasn't able to wake up from it, I rarely get dreams like that. Good thing it was just a dream and I was actually glad I woke up in my cabin and there weren't any christmas presents. My contract isn't over yet, but I really can't wait to be home!
WEEK 21- Saturday on my dinner break I connected to the internet on the ship and face timed with my family for a bit. Later in the evening at work I had this little eleven year old kid named Max from Texas come in for a haircut. He plops himself down in my chair and his grandpa says "he's the boss so whatever he wants" and then leaves the salon. Max goes on to tell me how he wants his hair, "I want it fuzzy but not like really fuzzy." I just laugh and say okay well I'll get you a magazine and you can show me a picture… because I had no clue what he was trying to describe. The first picture I show Max he likes and its much shorter than the hair he came in with. So I start cutting his hair with the clippers and then he starts crying. I ask him if he's okay and he said he didn't want his hair that short, I explained to him I was just following the picture he showed me and I can't put it back on. He understood and I tried to reassure him that it would grow back and he's probably just not use to having it that short but it'll look great when I'm finished. He was still crying so I tried getting his mind off it and talking about other things, he said he played a few sports and I asked if he played video games and he said his favorite is Call of Duty and I told him that was my favorite and of course along with that game he plays Halo. Then I asked him what he liked to do for fun and he named a few things and said he liked to flip off stuff, haha I had to ask him if I heard him right and then realized he meant he liked to do backflips off of things. Once I was finished he loved his hair and his family was waiting for him, his 17 yr old sister took a picture of him because she really liked it and he had never had his hair that short. I told him it made him look older. The next day I saw his grandpa and he said Max loves his hair. And I cut Max's dad's hair later in the week and he told me about how Max now spends a lot time in front of the mirror admiring his hair and fixing it up. I guess he's just at that age.
Sunday I was actually pretty busy all day at work, I ended up eating dinner at Aloha with Alex and Aaron, from excursions, stopped by the spa after going to the gym and said he was going to do some grocery shopping so I asked him to pick me up a few things which was really nice of him to do. After work I just had a little spa night for myself gave myself a facial, sat in the steam and sauna and just relaxed before heading back to my cabin.
Monday Jess, Gina and myself got up at 6am, caught a cab and headed to the laundry mat. I was sooo tired I never get up before the sun and Jess laughed at me and said "I'm never gonna hear the end of this am I?" and the rest of the day at work I jokingly would complain to her about how tired I was and it was all her fault. After doing laundry I wanted to go to starbucks to get a good wifi connect to watch my friend Mark's memorial service but it was so far up the road I wouldn't have time so I settled to try and connect to wifi at Wholefoods and it didn't work so I figured I could go back to the ship and try to connect there but that didn't work either :[ In the afternoon Aaron stopped by the spa and had brought me a Tomato because he forgot to get it the night before. I knew he had forgotten but it wasn't a big deal so I didn't say anything to him. I was surprised he actually went back to get me one, that was really nice.
Tuesday we were in Hilo and I didn't have to be at work until 1pm! I was just going to sleep in all day but then realized housekeeping would be coming in to clean so I got ready and went into town to eat at Cafe Pesto because there really isn't anything else to do in Hilo near the ship. I found out there's a free shuttle that takes us into downtown so that saved me a few bucks, I usually take a taxi. Cafe Pesto doesn't open until 11am so I walked around a little and came across The Mokupāpapa Discovery Center for Hawaii's remote coral reefs. It was free so I walked in and browsed the place it told some interesting facts about the island I didn't get a chance to read it all but it was a cool little center to check out. I loved this one little area that had a few pictures of some sunken ships, artifacts, anchors and canons from the 1800s and 1900s. 11 o'clock rolls around and I go to Cafe Pesto to get some lunch, I brought my laptop and finally was able to purchase Hillsong's new album Zion on iTunes then started listening to one of Pastor Jeff's sermons but only was able to get half way through because I had to walk back to the ship and it's about a 45min walk. Later in the evening while eating dinner in Aloha I sat at a table with Alex, Melissa and Johnathan. Johnathan is one of the navigation officers, he just got back from his vacation. Melissa works in the photography studio with Alex, she's a super nice girl. I liked chatting with her she was telling us all her stories growing up and how her parents raised her and her siblings (she has seven siblings). She has really funny stories, she said her dad use to wake them up singing "Today is a school day… a break all the rules day." and her mom use to say, "You don't get famous by following the rules, have a famous day!:]" and she said her mom would tell them that she had children to entertain her and if they weren't entertaining her they weren't doing their job so they pretty much threw parties for just about every occasion. It sounded like a crazy but fun household. Her parents are coming to visit her on the ship this week so thats super exciting for her. Later I just had one more haircut appointment but while I was waiting Aaron came by the spa once again and I was telling him the story about Max and ironically Max's dad walks in and he was my next appointment.
Wednesday was just a typical wednesday, busy day at work and then tomato bisque and goat cheese for dinner. I had another spa night for myself after work.
Thursday was a wonderful day!! loved every part of it! Gina, Amber, Silvia and myself had the day off and we went Kayaking:D Aaron Kleinerman, the navigation officer, pretty much made all the plans. First we had to wait till Drill was over. They're doing this new thing, so instead of just having drill every
Tuesday like we always do they do it at "random" on any day of the week once a week, but it isn't really at random because we know ahead of time what day it will be. So Drill cut into our day off because we aren't able to get off the ship until drill is over. They always do different emergencies for the fire team this drill it was a fake fire at the end of our hallway in front of Alana and Silvia's cabin. So Silvia walks out of her cabin and sees the smoke and then see's Safety John, our safety officer, hiding around the corner and Silvia and Alana had to go ahead and do what they would do during a real fire emergency and call the Bridge and then the rest of our drill continued. Amber and I are on the same Safety team and we were getting so anxious to get out of there and enjoy our day off.
After Drill Gina and I waited for Aaron to get off the ship so we could go get our car rental. We were waiting a long time for the Budget shuttle to pick us up but turns out they end their rounds about 11am so the man driving the Enterprise shuttle kindly took us to the Budget car rental place. We picked up the rental and then picked up Silvia and Amber from the store and continued on our adventure. The first Kayak rental place was $80 a person to Kayak and he was kind enough to tell us that his prices are really high to just rip off tourist and told us about this other place right on the river that was much cheaper up the road and we ended up getting to Kayak for $30 a person. Silvia and I shared a Kayak, Amber and Gina shared one and Aaron had his own. Oh and at the rental place they had Peacocks walking all over the place! The Kayaks were actually really nice and the river was gorgeous! We kayaked up the river and realized there were a ton of people at the place we wanted to hike to so we turned around and kayaked elsewhere. We parked our kayaks at the Fern Grotto and hiked up the trail, when we were getting out of our kayaks another couple came up and parked next to us, but right when they got out they had flipped their kayak over and fell in the water, I felt bad for them cuz they were probably embarrassed but it was pretty funny. While hiking I was just in flip flops and I stepped in mud and my foot was covered, when hiking in Hawaii you need some good hiking type sandals, Silvia and Aaron had the right idea. Luckily none of our flip flops broke on us that would have been horrible. After the Fern Grotto we kayaked up the river and reached this really shallow stream so Silvia got out and pulled me and we parked our kayaks and just walked around a bit. We saw a few cows. We Kayaked our way back to where we wanted to go at the start of our adventure and hiked up to the water fall. It was beautiful but freezing cold and there were a ton of tourist there. It was actually the first waterfall I had seen in Kauai and my second waterfall ever in Hawaii. We hiked back to our kayaks and got a little lost but eventually made it back. We saw roosters and chickens all over the place (as always) Kauai is covered with roosters, I found it funny hiking in the rainforest and hearing roosters crow every so often. We also saw a frog, a lizard and a duck and a few fish jumping about a foot out of the water, I tried getting a video of all the fish jumping but they stopped when I took out my GoPro. After Kayaking we went to a little town called Kapaa and had dinner at this little yellow shack called Mermaid's Cafe that Aaron had tried taking Gina and myself to a couple weeks ago but it was closed. It's a cute little place and the food was great, we all ordered different things and everything looked so good, I really want to go back and try some other things on the menu. After dinner we walked around a little and stopped at this little shop where I bought this really cute wooden cut out that is painted white and says Sea, I have it on my shelf by my bed. There were some really cute wooden panels that I wanted to get with vintage hawaiian posters painted on them but they were pretty expensive. We arrived back to the ship around 8pm and showered and I met up with Alana and Lauren to go to JJ's restaurant up the street. I figured I could get some dessert while they ate dinner. I ordered JJ's Icecream pie and it was very good. They have free wifi there so I figured I could upload some photos from the day but didn't really have enough time to.
Friday was surprisingly a pretty slow day at work but it was good because we were able to finish our port clean early and have our meeting and get ready to go to dinner. We had a Spa family dinner because it was Kelsey and Chris' Aloha week and Lauren and Anjulia will be leaving us when we leave for Dry dock and we welcomed Michelle, our new fitness trainer on board. Michelle is really nice and reminds me a little of my friend Amber back home. We're getting two new people today so our Spa family is changing, the girls always get nervous getting new people on board, theres been a few horror stories I've heard about the people that have been hired but at the moment we have a really really great team and everyone wishes it could stay the same. I'm excited to meet the new team members and really excited that Michelle will be joining us on our adventure tomorrow! We are finally going on that hiking trip that Jess, Anjulia and I have been planning on going on since December. I think Silvia will be joining us as well, I can't wait!
It's kind of surreal that I'll be coming home next week! I can't wait to see my family and friends and finally get to go to church and it's great that its Easter weekend<3 Just 6days till dry dock, 10days and 8 hours till I'm home!

Duana 10 days! Can't wait! Patrick said he wants his hair fuzzy. And he thought flipping off stuff was hilarious. I can totally imagine you jokingly complaining about waking up so early, lol. You know you can download the podcast of the sermons and listen to them on your phone? Last week's message was good, especially the end. Sydney is excited to see her Auntie. You are going to freak at how big she is!
Mamma Vasquez Love reading about your adventures! Can't wait till you come home!
