Work was very very very slow, it was at least a little interesting at the beginning of the week.
WEEK19- Saturday, embarkation day was very slow when usually we get booked up right at two. Charmaine asked me if anything booked in and i said no but we have our first lady booking in right now. After a while when she was talking with Anjulia at the front desk she just flat out passed out on the floor. We called for help and she didn't know what caused it and they carried her off the ship on a strecher and took her to the hospital. We saw her later in the week so she was able to enjoy the rest of the cruise.
Sunday Gina, Amber and I had the day off and decided to go to the Maui Aquarium but first we needed to get our laundry done. So we packed our suit cases with our laundry and headed to the laundry mat up the road from the ship, its always a relief getting laundry done. After doing laundry we dropped our stuff off at the ship and then headed to Queens mall which is about a 20min walk down the street. There we grabbed some lunch and took a bus to the Aquarium. The bus was so packed there had to of been like 20 people standing in the isle. We get into the Aquarium for free because we work on the ship so thats awesome. Right when we walked in we walked over to an aquarium that this lady was standing in and she picked up three different starfish that we were able to touch and a sea cucumber but i didn't want to touch the sea cucumber, i think they're disgusting. We got to see lots and lots of fish and read about the island. We saw the Hawaii state fish, humuhumunukunukuapuaa, it's a funny looking fish with a funny name. We got a chance to see turtles, sharks, seahorses, jelly fish, sting rays and a ton of other sea creatures. My favorite part of the whole place was the tunnel we walked through, we felt like little kids walking through the aquarium. I could spend hours watching the fish, Plenty of fish in the Aquarium... they're all so interesting, unique and so detailed in their creation. After the Aquarium we hadn't paid any attention to what time we needed to be at the bus stop (obviously none of us take the bus often) so we called for a taxi, the cab driver called me back confirming the location, I was hesitant to answer because he had an Irvine area code, he said he wouldn't be there for another 20 minutes so I told him never mind and we caught another cab. The cab ride back to the mall was $30, where as the bus for a day pass is only $4, so if you're ever vacationing in maui don't catch a cab. Once we made it back to the mall we met Silvia at the nail salon where we had made our appointments for our pedicures earlier that day, The rest of the girls were trying to catch the bus to Paia for a yoga class but they didn't finish with their pedicures in time. I had planned on facetimeing with my family for my gramma's birthday party but it turned out the party was canceled so I just face timed with my family that was at home. Then I called my bestie to chat with her a bit, I can't wait to be home!!
Monday work was slow. Silvia, Gina, Amber, Alana, Lauren and myself went to Skyline for dinner. I love the musicians that play in skyline, that night they had a guy playing the piano, I enjoyed it a lot he played some familiar songs. After Dinner Alana joined me once again to listen to my friend Michael's, Frank Sinatra gig at Pink's Champange because we didn't get a chance to hear the whole thing last Monday.
Tuesday after work my excursion friend Aaron came up to the spa and told us the Lava looked awesome tonight so I went down to my cabin to grab my cabin and Aaron and I went to the front of the ship on deck seven (where the "crew pool" is) to see if we could still see the lava but we had already sailed by it. It was a beautiful night, it was a full moon so we just watched the moonlight on the water for a bit. I turned around looking at this huge black thing laying on the deck and Aaron told me it was a spare anchor, I don't know why but I got the chills looking at it for some reason. I think its just the fact that it's so big and heavy and it goes deep into the ocean, I felt the same way seeing the anchor on the Queen Mary in longbeach.
Wednesday my manager gave me a three hour break and I debated on taking nap in my cabin or getting off the ship. It's a bit of a hassle to get off the ship on Wednesdays because we have to tender into port and it takes time to load and unload but I decided to get off the ship anyway because I figured I'd be more tired if I took a long nap and I figured I could just FaceTime with my family. I went to a coffee shop right where we get off the tender and face timed with my brothers and then called my friends Stephanie and Matt just to say hello, it was nice to see them… technology these days is so convenient.
Thursday It was a slow day, Captain Ron came up to the spa to just check it out and make his rounds and because it was slow he asked if I had time for a haircut so I cut his hair real quick. I had a chance to finally do some reading this week because it was so slow. Later in the evening I did Gina's hair, just a shampoo and style. She has curly, frizzy hair and a ton of it. I ended up curling it with my big iron and it turned out so cute, some people didn't even recognize her. Aaron joined Silvia, Amber, Gina and myself for Sushi at East meets West.
Friday was a little busier than the rest of the week, surprisingly I had four rebooks this week and it was a very very slow week. Aaron Joined Gina and myself once again for dinner at Aloha Cafe, after dinner Gina came to my cabin and I gave her a quick makeup lesson because she wants to go makeup shopping and wanted to know what she should be buying. Thats pretty much it. sadly I didn't look out my window today to see any whales or dolphins or rainbows.
I didn't get a chance to finish my book for the month of Febuary but hopefully I will finish it soon! My boss just texted me saying I have mail in her office I hope it's the book I've been waiting for that my Buddy sent me!! Tomorrow is my day off and we're going horseback riding in Maui! "But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the havens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind." -Job 12:7-10
