I don't think I could ever have a terrible week in Hawaii, somthing always out weighs the bad... It was very slow for the salon which was unusual but I didn't mind, I enjoyed having a little break.
WEEK 33- Saturday after starbucks I had to go back to the ship to work. We got two new massage therapist, Emily is 20 and from Wisconsin, she has an incredibly strong Wisconsin accent I told her she sounds like she's from another country, I really like Emily she's very easy going. And there's Bethany who is 30, from Arizona I don't know much about her at all. So the two of them are our new cabin neighbors. After work I hit the gym with my new roommate, Michelle, it was our first official night as roomies. She finally moved all her stuff in earlier that day. While we were getting ready for bed I walked out of the bathroom and jokingly told her, "Don't you think this relationship is moving a little too fast? I mean, we just met and now we're living together?" hahaha we decided we were ship soul mates, both of our long term ex-boyfriends ironically live on Oahu now. So here's a little about Michelle… She's 23… January 1990 is her birth month I couldn't believe she was a 90's baby! She's from a small town of 800 people in Troy, Idaho. We came to the conclusion that her entire town is smaller than our crew staff on board. She went to a very small school of only 300 kids altogether from K-12th grade! She absolutely loves Disney and is in love with anything Minnie Mouse. I love it, I told her she has to come visit me and we'll go to Disneyland. She also loves to dress up for halloween or any chance she gets to put on a cool costume. I showed her my disney costumes I've had in the past for halloween and she said "you live the life I want!" haha. She takes pictures of everything!! She loves to scrapbook and save anything and everything for memories, we went to a sushi restaurant just the other day and she kept the wrapper of the chopsticks, I laugh at her every time. But I'm sure she has an awesome scrapbook.
Sunday I worked and got a longer lunch break so I went to eat at whole foods and got a change to FaceTime with my friend Dorothy for a bit, she was in Spain at the time and it was 12 midnight there and 12 noon where I was, I thought that was crazy. Gotta love technology. She was leaving for Ireland the next day, its pretty awesome all the places she's traveled to.
Later at work I did a BCA with Michelle, BCA stands for Body Composition Analysis , they hook you up to a machine and it tells you how much toxins are in your body and if you want to lose weight or build muscle and just all around how healthy you are. She said my water intake was good and that generally I need to build muscle which is was I what I had told her I wanted to do anyway and this building muscle would help reduce toxins and all. Aaron and Michelle made up this "June up Tune up" challenge to just be healthier, I decided to join them on this challenge for some reason I like to make goals for myself and try to accomplish them but I'm starting to make too many to keep up with. It isn't a terribly strict diet or anything just setting some healthy goals for yourself to get in shape and I just need to exercise more. Aaron is trying to do 14 hours a week of exercise but I told him theres no way I could do that I work way too much so I cut that down to about 7 but am still having a hard time with just that. Michelle and I are only taking the stairs… so again, from deck 2-12 for work everyday is a killer. I think of Icarly every time I take the stairs, It's the episode where Sam said she hates the work panties and spencer walks in talking about the stairs and she says "ugh I hate that word!" and he trys to be annoying and says, "Stairs! Stairs! Stairs!" but she was really talking about panties. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, apparently no one knows what I mean when I say "like on Icarly.." I miss watching it!
That evening a returning client of mine, Johnny Wayne Warren the 2nd, came in for his last haircut from me because it was his aloha week, He's a dishwasher on board from Tennessee, I think his name is awesome. Debbie laughed when she saw on the schedule that John Wayne was coming in.
After work I met up with Aaron and Michelle and went to Ihop for dinner then caught the Last showing of Gatsby with Gina, Brendan, and Alex. I was excited to finally get some popcorn and jalapeños. The movie was great! It is such a good story line and Baz Luhrmann is just phenomenal with his directing, making older movies with a modern twist, the cinematography was awesome the music was great and the wardrobe and hair and makeup was beautiful. Very well put together, I loved it. Alex had never seen the old movie or read the book, closer to the end of the movie he said this is so intense! ahh I thought it was so good! My boss likes the older version better.
Monday I got up early to go to Michelle's Cycling class, got in a good workout for June up Tune up before work. Later that day I had a girl come in and I got to do her hair and makeup, we got along really well probably because we were the same age. She had beautiful skin and gorgeous blue eyes, she didn't have any opinion about makeup or hair so I asked her what she was wearing that evening and made it up as I went along. She told me about how she was in beauty pageants and how she use to play Cinderella at Disney world! I told her how I loved dressing up as disney characters for halloween and how I audidutioned to be a disney princess and our conversation just kept rolling on and on she told me about the cosmetologist at disney world and all the things they had to do and I thought that would be an awesome job to get to do. When I was finished she loved her hair and makeup and gave me a hug It was funny to me how fast we connected within an hour and a half. Her brother's girlfriend came in to get her hair done as well by Charmaine, I really don't think she left happy with it but she didn't say anything and the girl I was doing felt really bad and whispered to me that her brother was planning on proposing that night. I still don't know if he ever did but that was the whole reason they came to get all dressed up to go to dinner. I felt terrible for her. Later I told Michelle I did Cinderella's hair and she said thats when you text me to tell me to come meet her!!
Tuesday I went to Michelle's yoga class in the morning out on the basketball court along with Emily, Amber, and Eric. She made me a delicious smoothie for breakfast. Work was super slow. Trevor came up to the spa to finally give me a cupcake he had gotten on saturday from a bakery in honolulu that won cupcake wars, Hokulani, its right across the street from where we port on saturday, delicious! He had instagramed a picture of the cupcakes and I said I wanted one so he saved one for me. He said his favorite cupcake is the salted carmel, I have yet to try it.
On the big island there was a 5.6 earthquake near the island, so It make for pretty rough seas when sailing the rest of the week. We were close to having a sea day on wednesday but we didn't have to after all.
Wednesday I woke up early to go for a run with Emily and grab some breakfast before we had to work. I told her I didn't want to go running but then figured I wouldn't have any other time to get some exercise in that day so I forced myself to go for a run left her a note on her door to let her know we'll be running in the morning. We found Katia when we were waiting in line for the tender and she said she was going for a run as well so we did a four mile run with her. After our run we went to get Acai bowls at this Acai shack on the island, it was so good! I got an Acai Avo smoothie. We sat on this perfectly shaped palm tree, the trunk laid on the grass like a log and then when up, we found Gina over there and watched the ocean for a bit, the swells were huge and there were so many local kids out there catching the waves with their boogie boards. We stopped by the farmers market so Katia could get some Papayas I got Michelle a couple of mangos because she loves mangos, she said they were the best mangos she's ever had.
Thursday!! was incredible!!! Amber and I finally got to check SKYDIVING off our Hawaii bucketlist! Katia, Amber and I woke up early and hurried to the car rental place and booked it over to SkyDive Kauai, the guy said we needed to try and make it out there as early as possible before the winds picked up so we didn't get there till about 9:30am. I of course bought the video and pictures I was really hoping they would let me bring my own GoPro but they said I couldn't, Mike was the guy that I tandem jumped with. They said who wants to go first? and I said "MEE!" so I was the first to jump. I like to get things done and over with. We took a small four person plane that was painted like a shark named Sharky. The night before I was excited but nervous, I felt like I was going to go to Disneyland kind of feeling. Once I was there I was nervous and quiet but super stoked you could tell on my face in the picture of me signing the paper work, signing my life away with papers saying ***YOU MIGHT DIE*** on every single page. The girls had me pick who I wanted to go with first since it was a small plane, I picked Amber because it was our first contract and we wrote our list of things to do in hawaii together and Katia had already skydived in Kauai. On the ride up to 10,000ft all I could do Is smile the island Is beautiful. I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be anymore, pretty fearless, I didn't have that crazy gut feeling of my stomach dropping. Once we reached 10,000ft Mike explained to me once more what I needed to do then opened up the door, kicked one foot out and I didn't hesitate and just kicked my feet out, didn't second guess any moment of it, it felt so surreal and didn't hit me till after that I just jumped out of a plane 10,000ft in the air! The view was gorgeous! right on the coast line, I was flying. It was awesome. After about 30 seconds or so Mike pulled the parachute out and we just glided for a while, he even let me control the chute pulling on one side to turn and then the other way to turn the other way and then he pulled one side down a lot and we were spinning it was pretty cool. We landed and then Amber landed shortly after, Katia got a few pictures of us in the air. Katia was suppose to go next and they would have given me a discount to go up and jump out with her again and I totally would have but the winds picked up way too much so she wasn't able to jump, but she's gone skydiving 5 times before so It wasn't a big deal for her. They put together a quick video for us with music and all that we got to watch. I asked if I could just put the raw footage on my flash drive so I could make my own video with the music that I wanted and all and they were willing to do that. We got a nice discount for the video and pictures and they gave us free t-shirts because we are "Kama'aina" well kinda… Kama'aina are the locals on the island they always get discounts and what not if you live on the islands but because we live on the ship and are there every week we get the nice Kama'aina deals. It was a great way to start the morning and the company we went with was great! Can't wait to go again! The rest of the day I would randomly say… "I jumped out of a plane earlier, thats insane!"
After Skydiving we picked Michelle up from the ship and went to Dolphins for lunch in Poi'pu. My friends Danae and Allen were on their honeymoon in Kauai so they met up with us and spent the rest of the day with us. After lunch we went to Poi'pu beach to find some turtles for Amber. The tide was super high and the waves were big. Right when we got to the beach we found some huge turtles swimming in the waves. We laid out in the sun for a bit while Allen went snorkeling and took some video with my GoPro. Around three we went to happy hour at a place near the beach and Allen and Amber got a chance to watch the basketball game. It was so awesome having Danae and Allen there I felt like I was home, who would have thought we would be in hawaii together?! Around 5:30 we made it back to the ship and Allen and Danae just so happened to be staying at the Marriott right next to the ship so I went over there and we went for a swim and sat in the hot tub until we were ready to go to dinner. We went to Kauai Pasta for dinner, just the three of us, I was glad they got to try my favorite italian place on the island. We talked about their new house and what I needed to do when looking to buy a house and that the rates are going up incredibly fast and just caught up with each other. Danae's one of those friends that I can not talk to for a while but then pick up where we left off and feel like nothing has changed, I love it, true soulmates. haha. We ended the night just watching tv at their hotel room, we were tired from the day even though we didn't do anything too crazy. I really wanted to show them the island but they had already gone and seen everywhere I would have taken them. That night I texted Alex and told him how I was visiting with my friends from Cali and of course he wanted to put a photoshoot together with them right on the beach. I wasn't too thrilled about doing one because I thought I had to work at 8am but when I got back to the ship and saw that I didn't have to be at work till 10:30am I called him and said that I was willing to shoot them in the morning and then texted Danae telling her we'd be at the hotel at 7:30am.
Friday Woke up early and met up with Alex to go shoot some pictures of Danae and Allen on Kalapaki beach. Alex was totally in his element, he loves photography and it looked like he had a great time shooting them, he shoots couples on that beach all the time so obviously he knew what shots he wanted to get. Alex had a shoot scheduled at 9am so he hurried back to the ship and I went to breakfast with Allen and Danae, the breakfast Buffet there is really good. Unfortunately Alex's 9am shoot cancelled so he came to eat with us as well. Allen talked all about his job and being a Marine and Alex seemed pretty intrigued. I still couldn't get over the fact that they were here in Hawaii with me! I made it back to the ship and rushed to get ready for work It was incredibly slow for a friday but Charmaine and I didn't mind it at all It was nice to relax. I got a long lunch break so I uploaded the pictures I took of Allen and Danae, I learned a lot from that shoot… as in what I liked and didn't like with posing couples. Theres quite a few things I would have done differently but just didn't think of it at the time which makes things difficult in photography because theres just so much to look at and think about so quick. One thing I really didn't like in pictures is kissing… I learned that in my past photo classes but now actually experiencing it in a photoshoot theres only a few exceptions I would think would work, depending on the setting like if it was how Danae and Allen's engagement shoot was how she was giving him a kiss goodbye because he was leaving to the military or on their wedding day when he would finally get to kiss his bride. I guess it would just have to be something that would actually show some meaning in the kiss. I could go on and on about what looks good and what doesn't but over all I had a lot of fun with it even though Alex did most of the work, I'm curious to see how his photos came out. Danae said she's excited to have some pictures from their honeymoon to put up in their house, I didn't even think of that. But we should have some good ones to send them.
It is now Saturday the start of my 34th week, on my walk over to Starbucks they were getting ready for a parade on the streets, I wasn't able to watch it because I was writing this blog and I need to try and hurry up and FaceTime my parents before heading to work. Trevor just stopped by to say hello, he told me I need to go buy a salted carmel cupcake:]
Just 21 days till my parents embark the ship! and 41 Days till my contract ends! One thing that is awesome to break up these last few weeks is that I got to see my friends from back home and my parents are coming aboard, it just gives me things to look forward to till the end! Love you and miss you!! <3

Duana Gourley I know what you mean when you say, "like on iCarly"... Except you sexplained that whole stairs thing terrible, lol. Wish we could come see you! I think you should apply for an Australia/New Zealand cruise. Queenstown is the adventure capital of the world!
