Dry dock is over and I am back into the swing of things on the ship! I haven't had a second to blog about my vacation so here I am at Ruby's Diner, sitting in a booth, waiting for my dinner to arrive and starting to catch you up on these past two weeks the best that I can remember….
WEEK 23- Monday the weather was better on Oahu, it had been raining off and on since we had got off the ship, Saturday. April had the entire day off so we headed to the beach to catch the little bit of sun that we could. April's co worker, Alwin, joined us for the day. Alwin worked on the ship before so Lauren knew him prior. After the beach we went shopping and then went back to April's place to BBQ some chicken. Our dinner turned out sooo good it was really nice to have a home cooked meal. After we ate Anjulia came over to hangout for a bit. Lauren and I started to watch Moulin Rouge till we fell asleep.
Tuesday April took Lauren to the airport around 7am, I didn't have to be dropped off till later so I slept in as much as I could. April was kind enough to drop me off before she had to be at work. The Flight wasn't too bad, I filmed us taking off it was pretty cool to see the whole island from above sitting in the clearest blue ocean. My parents and my Brothers picked me up from the airport and of course we ate dinner at in-n-out, just any true Californian would do. My phone was loaded with text messages saying "YOU'RE HOME!!" It felt great to be home, but I felt like I never left.
Wednesday I had a dentist appointment early in the morning, I tried getting my taxes done but that wasn't happening so I went to my sister's house and to finally see my niece!! She's soo big now and crawls everywhere! She's practically walking. Its crazy knowing that she will be walking when I get back. I spent the night at my sister's so It would be easier for my friends from the ship, Kelsey and Lauren, to pick me up to go to disneyland in the morning!
Thursday Lauren and Kelsey were staying at Kelsey's sister's house in Rancho, They picked me up and we headed to Disneyland! My Friend Becki's husband, Jesse, was nice enough to sign the three of us in for the day. It was incredibly packed for spring break but it's Disneyland, I couldn't be happier being at home annnd at the happiest place on earth. It was Lauren's first time at California Adventure so I showed her everything and at the end of the day we watched the Wonderful World of Color and it was wonderful!
Friday I spent the day with my Soulmate, Danae, and my darling, Stephanie. I was so happy to see them! It's always a joy to have them around. We went to Bruxie and had some waffle sandwiches for lunch in Chino and went to Dripp for some coffee. It was a great day, later I picked up my bestie, Mikaella, and we went to the Good Friday service at church. Again, it felt great to be back at church, I missed it so much. After the service Mikaella and I met up with Steph at coffee Klatch to listen to her friend's poetry gig (apparently April is national poetry month). Her friend is a very great writer, I would love to share her stuff, she doesn't have anything posted yet but you can follow her page on Facebook at Rogjett Speaks.
Saturday I went to brunch at my old work.. Lazy Dog Cafe with Alyssa and Janais, my old co workers from Bob's big boy. It was Janais' birthday so she didn't stay very long since her friends had made plans for her day. It was nice seeing them and catching up for the short time we had. After brunch I did some shopping and bought 6 new dresses… not that I really needed them, I guess it just made up for the 6 months that I hadn't bought any dresses :P That night we went to church to eat chick fil a and then dyed easter eggs with my family and Mikaella.
--I just walked over to Starbucks so I could finish this, I have 30mins before they close so lets hope I can do this quick!
WEEK 24
Sunday Easter!! We attended church in the morning and then went to my Grandma's house to have lunch and play games and hunt for eggs, it was great to visit with my extended family, Dry dock couldn't have come at a more perfect time :]
Monday I cut my brother Bobby's hair and trimmed his beard, of course I couldn't take a vacation and not do someones hair… Later went to my sister's house and put together a smash the cake photo shoot for my niece's first birthday, the pictures came out adorable. Later my Little sister came over for dinner and then I headed to monrovia to T-Phillips to catch up with my friend Brady, we had a great conversation about traveling and what God has shown us in the past few months, how quick things change and simple goals we have in life. I've really enjoyed my time catching up with friends.
Tuesday I decided to take Mikaella out to Red Devil Pizza for lunch, I had really missed the times we would go there and hangout, and I missed the food. We made it our "anniversary date", since we started hanging out three Easters ago. She wrote me a note and gave me a flower:] My family had an early Dinner at Vince's Spaghetti so I could celebrate my niece's birthday and visit with the rest of my family. Later we went to see OZ the great and powerful. After the movies I went to T-Phillips in Glendora with my brother Bobby and my friend Josh, an old co worker from Bobs big boy. Then we finally decided to go on an adventure to my favorite bar The Thirsty Crow in Silverlake and I'm really glad we did, I love that place. We always hope the taco guy is out on the street making tacos by the bar but he wasn't there, instead there was a guy making burgers and they were delicious! The guy said he wants to start his own restaurant one day, I honestly think he could! his food is great.
Wednesday I relaxed and packed then went to Lazy Dog Cafe with Darling Stephanie to be with her one last time. She's always a great encouragement and God is doing some great work in her life.
Thursday my mom dropped me off at LAX and I flew back to Hawaii. On the plane I finally finished my book for March, I absolutely think everyone should read it. When I got off the plane I took a shuttle to the Modern Hotel in Honolulu. On the shuttle I just so happened to be sitting next to a couple who would be boarding the ship on saturday so I got to talking with them about the ship and my job and the islands. My stop was the first stop at the Modern Hotel where I checked into our room for the evening to celebrate my roommate, Amber's, birthday. We were on the 12th floor with a balcony and a beautiful view of the beach. I wish we had a chance go down and swim in the pool, they had a purple pool! which is both mine, and Ambers favorite color. I waited a while for the girls to arrive then we took a cab to the ship to sign on and get our things together. When we walked on the ship it was miserably hot and sticky and a complete mess. It was crazy to think that they would be able to clean all of it up before saturday but they some how did it. Finally we got offf the ship, took an old limo taxi back to the hotel and got ready for the evening. We spent the rest of the night at the Yard house in Waikiki, we had a packet of mustaches we wore for fun after dinner and then walked up the street to a bar. We were celebrities that night with those staches, everyone wanted pictures with us. Gina, Michelle, Alana and myself didn't stay very long it had been a very long day of traveling and we needed rest before going to work the next day.
Friday It was only Silvia, Amber, Gina and myself that stayed at the hotel so we got up early, checked out of our hotel room and went to grab some breakfast before catching a taxi to the ship. I hadn't taken so many taxis within two days in my life. It was deep Cleaning all day in the spa we started about 9am took a half hour break to eat pizza for lunch and then worked till about 5:30pm. There was a lot to get done. Once we finished we showered and got ready and went to eat dinner in China town, it was our first time experiencing First friday in china town so it was pretty interesting. They block off the street and people are doing art or playing music and what not, it was fun to check it out.
Saturday was embarkation day, our first passengers on the fairly newly remodeled ship. I didn't have to be at work till 2pm and thought I would be up early to go to starbucks and blog but I woke up with a sore throat and fell back asleep and ended up sleeping in till about 10am, by that time I only have enough time to walk to subway and get myself some lunch and dinner before getting ready for work. Once I started work I pretty much wandered around the ship, gave myself a tour of all the new things on board, I really didn't want to converse with anyone because I wasn't feeling the greatest. The ship looks a lot different it still needs a lot of work but they put in different flooring in a few places and completely moved the photo gallery, which is entirely its own shop now and the art that they sell on board was moved as well and they both look so much better. We didn't get anything new in the spa except our spa is now Mandara Spa & Salon instead of Santa Fe Spa, Which is a bummer because now I can't sing "Santa Fe" from the Newsies anymore. haha. The gym got brand new equipment that I still have yet to check out.
Well thats as much as I can catch you up for now. Just 3 more months and my contract will be over!
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might love through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another." -1John 4:7-11
