After coming home and decompressing from all the travelling, I got ready to go to dinner with my friend Dana who is studying abroad in Salamanca, Spain, who was in Rome for the weekend. My roommates were not feeling too good, so my only options were to not see her, or wander to meet her alone. I decided to venture on my own to the Hard Rock to meet her for dinner. It doesn't get dark here in Rome until about 9:30, and I was meeting her at 8, so I was still in plenty of daylight and public transportation is very safe here. So, I got ready and headed to the bust stop. Of course, I missed the bus I needed by about 15 seconds, and although I was clearly sprinting towards the stop, the bus driver didn't wait for me, so I had to wait 25 minutes for the next one. It finally came and I followed my google maps instructions for when to get off. Google told me it would only take 19 minutes, false, the bus ride was closer to 30 minutes. Then, google tells me to "Walk to the Hardrock" from the bus stop. Little did I know it was a 20 minute walk, during which I had to stop and ask for directions 3 different times because google gave me no sort of insight as to which roads to take to get there. At 8:50, I finally arrived at the hard rock. Lukcily there was a wait for a table, and Dana had put us on the list, so they didn't have to sit without me and wait. I got there just before our table was ready and we got to sit down. We enjoyed a nice American meal, which was refreshing for all of us because we have been eating food abroad for four weeks now. After dinner, me, Dana, and her boyfriend Casey went on a walk to the Trevi Fountain because they hadn't seen it yet. We took pictures, got gelato, then they walked me to the tram so I could head home and they could go back to their hostel. We made plans to meet up in the morning and go to the Colloseum. I'm excited to go back because I didn't really get to enjoy it last time I was there (remember I wandered around lost for 30 minutes outside). Can't wait!
Today was a long day but so worth it! Can't wait for tomorrow! A domani!
