So Caesar was no where near as exciting as I expected it to be. We joined both of our classes to watch Julius Caesar in film and then learn the real history behind it. Well, the movie is long, boring, and in Shakespearian English, so I highly advise you against watching it if you don't have to.
We then walked as a group to see the catacombs where Caesar was killed, but the ruins were so ruined (haha I'm punny) that there wasnt too much to see. BUT THEN our teacher springs a surprise on us that we can go visit Turtle Fountain! Of course I go, and take too many pictures, including one with the new keychain I got - I'm lame I know it's okay.
Sara'Margaret's mom is in Rome visiting, so after Turtle Fountain we went to go meet up with her mom at the Spanish Steps, which is great because we still haden't seen those yet. We then got dinner and I got my first Italian panini which was great: italian Sausage with parmesean and pistachios. Her mom then went back to her hotel and we decided to explore the nearby area because it was a part of the city we still had not seen. It was populated with tons of designer, high-end stores and boutiques, but between all of those were scattered ruins and pieces of ancient history that we had never even heard of before. The most monumental one was us stumbling upon what we now know is Piazza di Popolo, which contains a fountain with the statue of the shewolf and Romulus and Remus. We continued to get more lost and see more ruins. We also stumbled upon what has got to be the most expansive and oldest wine shop in Rome, which was so cool! It looked almost like a library of wine as opposed to a store. We then wandered our way back, stopping of course to get some great gelato and other yummy frozen treats.
We spent a relaxing night in because tomorrow we visit the Vatican bright and early! I can't wait! Check out all the pictures from today's adventures!
A domani!
