Yesterday was a good day. I got up and had breakfast, then went for a run. I went even farther today...all the way to the Ritz and back. AND on my way back I was running next to Prince Harry. There was something going on at Buckingham as I was running past towards the Ritz and on my way back they had finished and there were men on horses heading back to Horse Guards. It was funny because the pace of the horses was my running pace and as I looked over I saw him! Pretty awesome. I thought about tripping and falling to see if he would help, but that would have been super awkward if he didn't. I stayed with them all the way across St. James's Park and half way across Hyde Park before they turned to go down another road. Christa's roommate Jaime was so jealous! She kept bringing it up at breakfast this morning. It didn't even rain the whole time I was running and I logged 5 miles!
Not much happened in the afternoon...lunch, class, dinner. We had the boat cruise on the Thames at 7. For some reason I didn't think it would be that long, but it was 4 hours. We left Embankment Pier and went up the river for 2 hours and then came back. The sun was up when we were heading up the river and it was setting as we were coming back down. It was awesome going under the Tower Bridge and seeing all of the old buildings along the river. It was used as a canal a while ago and people could just pull their boats right up to the shops and dock.
The boat had a DJ and a bar. The sign in Atlantic House said that it wasn't a booze cruise, but that's what it turned out to be. I'm not going to say anything bad or negative about the trip, but I will say that I get more and more disappointed with the people on this trip after social engagements. The DJ did a great job and played songs that I love and I'll probably have stuck in my head for a week. Christa, Allison and I stayed up on the top deck for almost half of the trip just taking pictures and talking. It was crazy downstairs in the closed part! The floor was literally soaked with beer. So many people slipped and fell. It was sooo entertaining. Once the sun started to set more it got cooler so we went downstairs and sat in a booth and just watched everybody making fools of themselves. Ged was walking around taking pictures and got a picture of our table...I tried to hide but it didn't work. Almost halfway through the trip I started to get hungry, but didn't have any food in my bag. I usually have an apple or granola bar with me but I ate it the other day. By the time we started to head back my stomach was hurting so bad I didn't even care about the boat party or taking pictures. It was miserable! I couldn't wait to dock and get food. When we finally docked I made a beeline for the tube station and got a little bag of cookies until we made it back to Gloucester Road where I could get a sandwich. Thank goodness for the 24 hour convenience shop!!!! I got a huge sandwich and a pint of milk for only 1.95# and had it all gone in less than 5 minutes! I never ever want to go through that again. I'm going to make sure I always have food with me.
Tonight we're supposed to go and see Breakfast at Tiffany's at the outdoor cinema, but I think it's supposed to rain. That's okay though because I need to work on a paper and tomorrow's debate in class. I'm so excited for that; I love debates. The topic is a British republic vs. a monarchy. My side is the republic. It's going to be a good time!
