I didn't really have anything special scheduled for today. I was going to sleep in later than I usually do because I still haven't caught up on any sleep. There's so much to do here, but I don't have a coffee maker so I'm dying! I wonder how much it is at McDonald's? I never thought of that. Anyway, Christa came and woke me up to go to breakfast at 8 so I drug myself out of bed and all the way down the 82 steps to the commons. Breakfast is the same thing every day...bagels, sweet biscuits, hard boiled eggs, sliced ham, mandarin oranges, and Corn Flakes, Rice Crispies, and Coco Puffs. I usually just have Corn Flakes, a biscuit, coffee, and juice. Lunch and dinner really aren't any better either, but at least they're different every day.
Class was pretty cool again. I really like it. The teacher's so funny. Today he was saying how he needed a beer after class and he started making fun of American beer. He said the only thing Budweiser makes you do is constantly go to the bathroom no matter how much you drink. He said, "Have we taught you Yanks nothing?" I actually look forward to sitting in that class for 3 hours straight.
After class, Christa and I went to find the Peter Pan statue in Kensington Gardens. That place is so big it's hard to find anything right away. But we found it and took a ton of pictures. Then we went to the Italian Gardens. They're beautiful. An Englishman even offered to take a picture of the two of us with the fountains in the background. After that, we just kept circling around to get to where we started and we found the Princess Diana Memorial Playground! We were going to go in and take pictures, but there was a sign that said if you were an adult you had to be accompanying a child in order to go in. So we have to go back before 9:30 in the morning to take pictures. But there was a really cool tree outside the gates of the playground. In 1911, an artist carved little people and animals into the tree and painted them so it looks like a tree with people living in it. Pretty cool.
After dinner some people were going over to the park to play soccer so Christa and I went over to check it out. Ged tried to get me to play, but my toe still hurts too bad to run. (By the way I had 2 accidents yesterday. I split my toe open pretty bad on a stone slab and was gushing blood all the way to class. Then I fell down the steps of where I live and landed on my butt. Good times. The clumsiness follows me all the way to London.) We watched for a little bit, but it started sprinkling so we headed over to Kensington's underground to put some more money on my Oyster Card. It turns out that I forgot my card. As we were walking back, we found the McDonald's our tour guide said Princess Diana took the princes William and Harry to when we were little and we had seen an advertisement for these Cadbury chocolates with caramel filling McFlurries and we decided what the hey, let's go get one. Let me just say...that McDonald's is nice! I was in a sweatshirt and shorts and totally felt underdressed. It looks like a nice hotel lobby and even has a baby grand that plays classical music by itself. The McFlurries were delicious though! Definitely worth the 99 pence.
But now I need to go to bed. It's past midnight and I have to get up early to go tour Wimbledon stadium! TTFN
