Today was a great day!!! Even though it was raining off and on until 7 this evening...
I rolled out of bed at 8 instead of 8.15 because I had to get my sheets off the bed for the maids. Then I went down to breakfast with Christa. It's the same thing every day, but I really like breakfast. I always get the same thing, but tomorrow I think I'm going to have a bagel with melted cheese. I haven't had cheese in a long time. And of course the sweet biscuit with Cadbury chocolate spread is a necessity. After breakfast I went for a run in the park. I made it for an hour this time and went all the way to the end of Hyde Park and back...4 miles! It was mostly cloudy and in the low 60s, but it felt really good when I was running. When I was almost back to Kensington Palace it started to pour down rain and it was cold! I made it back to Atlantic House and got a nice warm shower then went down to lunch.
Class was interesting today. We learned about nationalism and devolution and how they affect the U.K. It's cool seeing all the statistics of GDP in each individual country in the U.K. and comparing it with other countries in the EU and breaking it down by religion and English speaking parts of the countries. We even got out early!
I went to Sainsbury's after class with Christa to get some more food! Now that I'm running again there's no way I can survive only on 3 meals a day! So I got these really good fruit and yoghurt granola bars, chocolatey granola bars, peanut butter (yay!), and dried fruit mix. That should last me a couple of days...
Tonight was the London Eye! I got some pretty cool pictures. We go in this glass capsule that takes us up 443 feet above the Thames River, like a ferris wheel. It's right next to Big Ben and Parliament and the view is beautiful! I'm not sure someone who is afraid of heights could do it though. It's almost all glass except for a little part of the floor. They're really hardcore about checking for explosives and weapons here too. In order to go on the Eye you have to have your bag checked and go through a metal detector. Once the capsule has gone around and everybody is off, 2 workers go on with mirrors attached to rods and check for explosives under the bench and on the ceiling. As the capsule comes back down there's a camera that takes a picture of the people inside so you can have a souvenir. Christa and I felt bad because we made faces. She looked like she was freaking out and I had this shocked look on my face with crossed eyes and the people in the picture next to us posed nicely. So we basically ruined their picture. We thought it would have been funnier if we both had our thumbs on our foreheads...you know like the "you ate it" thing after somebody rips one? Because the picture is taken from outside the capsule looking in so it would have looked like somebody in the capsule passed some nasty gas! I love it. Next time...
We also got a funny picture by a Star Wars poster. It shows Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader having a light saber sword fight and above them it says: Free enrolment to Jedi School". That's just asking for it so Christa and I posed in front of it using our umbrellas as light sabers! It's a good one!
That's pretty much it for today. Boat party tomorrow night! Hopefully it won't rain.
