This is the Place de la Bastille entrance to our street, Cour Damoye. There is a similar entrance from a smaller street at the other end of Cour Damoye, which is actually closer to our building. The gates are locked at night, so we swipe the lock with an electronic key to get in. We're on the 3rd floor (which most Europeans actually call the second floor because the ground floor or first = 0, the 2nd floor = 1, and the 3rd floor = 2). Anyhow, we're really glad we have an elevator. Our apartment is small, but neat, modern, and well-appointed. We have big windows and lots of light. We'll post some photos in a day or two.
