Rick had organized early on to hire a car for 2 days, so today we went and picked it up nice and early. It was a manual and in London is driven on the same side as Australia, which pretty much cancelled out all other drivers so I got the job of chief chauffeur! I didn't start the day well, I put in our destination of Windsor castle into the GPS and decided that driving through the center of London was going to be smart, it wasn't it we did 6 miles in nearly an hour. On top of that allow for the huge coffees we had just consumed and it was toilet time in downtown London with no where to park, some tension was generated :)
We eventually got to Windsor Castle and it was fantastic, I think the way it is situated in the town of Windsor combined with the beauty, size and the fact it is still in use means it is probably the best castle I have seen to date. The inside grounds are immaculate and the buildings are all very photogenic!
After finishing up at Windsor we choose to head off to Stonehenge and it was great, it doesn't really seem like anyone is too sure on what the significance is of this site but it is just brilliant the way it sits and the way it is situated in the open fields!!!! We arrived at 6:30 and it closed at 7 so we were probably pretty lucky to get in. We then headed to Salisbury for dinner we found a really nice restaraunt which was set on a flowing canal river system it was very picturesque, this town also has Europe's tallest church measuring 404 feet tall which is just massive and for a town this size it you have to ask the question why?
We headed home and after nearly hitting an unknown animal (may have been a badger) we got home a tick after midnight and I think we were all ready for some sleep!!! We got home anyway Chelsea still had to take the journey back to the village!
