Blog day 1 (part A)
As you all know I have decided to write a blog for Chelsea and my trip to Europe for Chelsea to win gold at the Olympics and for our following holiday. So as it has now been over 24 hours since I left home (and im still on a plane and have plenty of free time!) I thought this should count as day 1, I am going to try to write something each day as we all know my memory is not great!
Thanks to mum and Karen for dropping me off at the airport late last night, I actually got some sleep last night on the plane but not much! I arrived at Doha at about 6 am and was not at all ready for the heat and humidity that greeted me at the door! It was horrid and it was only 6 in the morning! Apart from that the connecting flight was very easy and I walked off one flight and straight through the gate to the next. ( it did have some disadvantages though as there was no Internet access, I really wanted to see how Chelsea went at the opening ceremony and wish her luck for her first game!)
For the second flight I managed to snare a window seat and I am glad I did, Qatar and the gulf country is easily the most spectacular I have flown over. Luckily it was a cloud free morning so Flying out of Doha was amazing with the simple brick type apartment buildings in the city and the super rich and huge skyscrapers backdropped by the sand and blue water (think Dubai). We have flown up the edge of the gulf, and there is so much to look at with the massive cargo ships, the dead straight black highways that just flow through the desert and the working oil wells with the massive flames. I think one of the best parts about flying is watching the map on the tv screen and seeing all of the city's and country's you fly over like going over India and we are currently over the top of Baghdad!! I have never been to a place that looks and I believe is so sandy, dead and hot!
As far as Qatar airways goes they have been fantastic very friendly and the planes are very clean. The meals are easily the best I have had on a plane, much better than that soggy stuff on Qantas! I would definitely recommend them but I do wish there was more leg room!!!!!!
I am calling this part A for day 1 as i will be arriving in london at 1 pm today and trying to find the Aubry clan and our apartment in Greenwich , so I still have a full day of travel and arriving in London to go!
