Blog day 1 (Part B)
Part B of day 1 was no where near as exciting as part A, for starters it clouded over so my window viewing was dampened somewhat ( about 12 Top gear episodes later), it only cleared once we went under the clouds to land in London. The first thing you notice about London are the houses they all look like they are straight off "the bill", the second thing I noticed was the amount of green fields within the city nothing like melbourne at all!
After landing and going through a somewhat subdued customs, I took 2 trains to the north Greenwich station. To my surprise it is right next to the massive o2 arena! Unfortunately I had not printed off enough documents and my journey got a bit tricky from here! I knew I had to get to the millennium village which I did but it is huge I did not have details of the building name or number and after 20 minutes of searching emails that were stored on my phone I could not find it anywhere. So I decided it was all over and lay down on the grass out the front ready to be devoured by some sort of native wild London beasts! Next thing you know I am hearing these somewhat relieving familiar accents yelling out my name, it was Rick and the gang just returning from the first basketball game which it seems Canada threw away.
The apartment is in an awesome position only 5 minutes from the arena, there is no air con and it is warm so with the window wide open the buses go straight past all night but lets just say after 30 hours of travel I didn't hear a thing! We went out to a nice pub down the road and listened to some interesting accents, the variety of cultures here because of the games is amazing! So no seeing Chelsea today but hopefully tomorrow we get to catch up for an hour or so!
