Again, I'm terrible at updating. I keep promising it'll be soon then it completely ISN'T soon and instead of getting my act together all I can do is procrastinate and I don't know why, I think I have a problem. I need procrastination like an addict needs drugs. BUT I'M WORKING THROUGH IT GUYS! I'M GETTING BETTER I PROMISE!
So we come to the exams...I was incredibly worried about these, because although they don't actually *mean* anything for me academically I still want to do the best that I can, and also revision was made extremely hard by the fact that I couldn't understand all of it. In those cases, I just tried to remember as much as possible and hope that I could parrot it back in context when it came to the exam.
Some of the exams went quite well! There were the ones that I expected to go well, such as English, math and French (though I have to say, in some ways the French was even easier than the English since all the English vocabulary was American slang, it actually took a fair bit of working out!). Then, there was the exams that I hadn't at all expected to do well in, such as Spanish. I usually do okay in Spanish classes but that is partly because I just look up and copy answers from the workbook, but I actually did surprisingly well in the exam! I may not have answered ALL the questions, and may not have got ALL my answers right but I am confident that I didn't completely fail, which is more than I was expecting!
Another exam that I hadn't been expecting to do at all well in was my P.E. exam, which was on chess of course, and I thought that I would have to remember the history of chess and all these awful facts that I would have to write out again and that I would fail completely, but in all honesty? I freaking OWNED that exam! Apparently, I know a lot more about chess in Spanish than I thought I did! So I was very proud of myself for that one.
Of course, along with all the exams that I did well in there were the ones that I did...not so well in. These consisted of biology, history/geography, civics and similar subjects, and to be honest I don't think either myself or the teachers expected me to do extremely well in them. For the most part, those exams consisted of me answering the multiple choices, making the best guesses I could where appropriate and not bothering to attempt the questions that, quite frankly, baffled me.
The Tuesday before christmas was my last day of school, and it was AWESOME! My last exam was on the Monday, and on our last day we got to wear non-uniform. We all brought in food or drink of some point, had no classes and just generally hung around chatting and relaxing all day, except for one guy in my class....the boy in my class, Jordy, was roped in to dress up as Father Christmas (and he made a WONDERFUL Father Christmas) and he gave out presents to the younger kids, which was adorable. It was pretty cool actually, in one of the classrooms the students had shut out all light and put the music up loud, so it was basically a club...in a school. Good day!
And so began the christmas holidays! I spent the next few days frantically shopping to try and get everyone christmas presents by the weekend, which resulted in a significantly more empty bank account and EXTREMELY aching feet, but I managed to get it all. Christmas itself wasn't a huge affair, I spent the Saturday with family at my host grandmother's house, mainly playing uno and dominoes with my younger cousins and just generally haivng fun, and the Sunday was spent doing pretty much the same but at my house. There wasn't really any huge event, just family and food etc. and that was nice.
The picture for today's post is myself and some family celebrating together on the 24th. I am slowly but surely working through my procrastination issues...very slowly...and so, until tomorrow!
