Heya!
Sorry it has been so long since I last updated properly, the only thing that has really happened worth writing about was my trip to the beach last weekend and I really want to get the video done on that one, because it says a lot more than writing ever could, but problems with the files etc. keep occouring and it's been a nightmare trying to get it sorted, but I promise that I will!
School today was 'dia de colores' for my class, which sounds really exciting and exotic, but really it just meant non-uniform, however there were still rules on what you could and couldn't wear; No dresses, shorts, skirts or tops that showed anything more than what was 'appropriate' were not allowed to be worn, which -when I think about it- doesn't seem that strange as this IS a very religious country, it's just not something I've been used to here as most times I've been out and about I've not felt the need to cover up much because of the heat. But all the same, it was nice to show the people at school my own style, and see theirs, and it was all in all rather fun!
I would have more to write about, but everything that I have planned to do keeps on ending up getting cancelled! It's really frustrating, because for two weeks in a row now a meet-up for AFS students in Santo Domingo has been postponed, which is really annoying because I kind of miss a lot of the other students! It's difficult to find a time to meet up with them, because there's usually something planned with either my family or theirs, but I have 8 more months in which I can meet up with them so I'm not too worried about that. Along with that, Jenny and I have recently decided to start doing Zumba classes (Kind of exercise dance calsses) in an attempt to lose a bit of weight, and get fitter in general. Except that when it came down to driving to the class, Jenny then receieved a message saying that it was cancelled because of the rain (It was another one of the big rainy thundery stormy type evenings) and we had to turn back and go back home! Usually, I love the weather here, but then again usually the weather isn't being so damn inconvenient!
I think that's all to report for now, I have a meeting with my contact person tomorrow so I'll probably update either Saturday or Sunday with details of that, the photo for this post is a picture I took in a big supermarket kind of place, showing how us Dominicans compensate for not having the big wintery christmas by bringing it about a bit early, it amused me to see this big christmassy display in early september! Aaaand that's about it so I guess I'll talk to y'all next time!

Ma Hoyle I love reading your blog Jasmine. How is Darren(the frog)? I notice many comments about the weather! Is it really just a British obsession or are they as interested in DM? As you may have heard we are having the hottest autumn EVER since records started! Bliss! Hope the Zumba classes get off the ground - go for it Jasmine!
