Okay, so I realise that it has been a very long time since I wrote, but with exams and christmas the blog just got completely pushed to the back of my mind, but I am here now!
I'm going to do a bit of a brief recap of November/December since I really do want to get you all up to date as quickly as possible! So, the things that happened during that time are:
24th Nov - There was a music presentation in my class, and each group of two got given a different genre and had to do a presentation on it and a certain artist, AND had to dress up as the artist. The day came round, and my partner didn't turn up from school, so it came around to my presentation (I had the genre pop) and I ended up dressed as Katy Perry, giving a talk on her music in front of a group of people wearing fairly normal clothing. So that was fun!
27th Nov - This was the AFS christmas party, despite being a month early, meaning that it didn't feel rather christmassy, and to add to the earliness of it, it also took place on a beach to it felt EXTRA non-christmassy, however we did all get santa hats....It was a really nice chance to catch up with a lot of the other students, go swimming in the sea and just have fun in general! There was games, music, sun, sea and topless guys everywhere, what more could a girl ask for?
30th Nov - We had a day in school where we all had to wear either a red, green or white top and everyone got served free biscuits and then a choice of hot chocolate or spiced cinnamon mulled something or other, which was nice! I mean we don't really do anything like that at my school back home, so that was cool :)
2nd Dec - That day I went down to Telemicro Canal 5 again and was a guest judge on my neighbour's TV show!! The show is called Chelsymania, directed by my neighbour and hosted by her daughter, and it is a kids singing competition, and I was the special foreign judge for the episode! They asked me to speak in English, so I would say what I thought then the host, Chelsy, would translate to the contestant. It was seriously cool.
3rd Dec - This was an AWESOME day, it was a big event at the Botanic Gardens which is close to where I live, and it was for AFS students across the whole country, so loads of people travelled down and everyone got to meet up with their friends again. For a while I felt kind of alone, because the people I would usually chat with were with those from their own country catching up, but then I met JIMMY! Jimmy is a dominican guy, extremely cool, and he absolutely LOVES everything British, so *obviously* he was immediately echanted by me. I swear, this guy is like my long lost Dominican twin brother! He loves Doctor Who, Harry Potter, even the same internet stuff as me! So I spent a lot of time chatting and singing with him, there was cake and a kind of party thing to celebrate AFS's 50th anniversary (though the day in general was a sort of party), I got to see Pablo again whic was great and there was just laughter, karaoke and fun in general! I left from that day a very happy person indeed.
8th Dec - Britney Spears was coming to Santo Domingo, and I managed to get half price tickets to go and see her! It was a really cool experience, the show was really well done with lots of elaborate sets and costumes (which were mainly various forms of glittery underwear) and videos, so I enjoyed it despite not knowing all that much of her newer music that she was playing. The stadium was absolutely PACKED with people, it seem that so few very big names come here that when they do jsut about everyone wants to go see them.
In between all those various events were things like trips to the cinema, nights out with friends, days in with friends etc. etc. and just general happiness! Aaaaand then we reach 13th December, the exams. I'm going to save writing about exams and christmas for my next post which I PROMISE will be soon! But hey, now you're all nearly caught up with me, so that's pretty good! The picture for this post is from the AFS 50th anniversary day in the Botanic Gardens with Jimmy, Pablo, Catalina and another student called Silvia. Stay wonderful, and until the next time,
