Hello again my lovelies! So I've had a jolly couple of days, school is getting better and better each day and I understand more and can socialise more easily with others in my class, so elife in general here is getting tha bit more enjoyable! Wednesday was a pretty good day of school; for our art project we were split into 4 groups and each group had a different culture (Aztec, Inca, Maya y Taino) to investigate, dress up as etc and then present our group to the class, so half way through break on wednesday we all went off and got changed into our outfits, a lot of which were very improvised take-your-own-clothes-and-hope-they-look-right looks, I'll put the picture of my class as the picture for the post.

It was also quite amusing as a lot of the boys were wearing, as you will see in the picture, only their underwear and make-shift loin cloths, so we had a nice little laugh at how ridiculous they looked before we realised we all looked kind of ridiculous. Speaking of boys, however, another thing I have noticed since I moved here was I have been getting a lot more attention from guys than I EVER did in England! For example, I'm pretty sure I never go two days without some person or other saying something like "Ahh que linda! Que preciosa!!" or someone saying I'm beautiful (or the somewhat more blunt 'you're hot') and I'm not sure if it's just because I'm paler than them, and they find that attractive in the same way that people over in England fake tan themselves because they think it's more attractive. Whatever the reason, I'm not complaining; it's quite nice to feel 'in demand' once in a while!

So funny story, today there was an event at a beach in Santo Domingo, it's a yearly thing where people from AFS and other places go and clean up the beach (that particular beach gets a lot of trash and rubbish) and it's generally a really good way to give back to the environment, though of course a better way to do that would be reduce global consumption, but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon. Because of some family being over last night and stuff going on etc we ended up getting up a bit late, and had to sort a load of stuff so we ended up leaving for the beach rather late too, but that didn't really matter because there was a lot to clear up so they'd probably be cleaning throughout most of the day. Or not. We got there and immediately some AFS girls saw me and said "Jasmine! What are you doing here, we've alreayd finished?" So basically instead of helping the environmnt, I ended up making it worse by driving across town to the beach for no reason! Not quite how I thought the day would turn out, but oh well.

I don't really have anything more say about my most recent ramblings, and I have a lovely piece of Spanish Sex Ed. homework to finish so I better get right on that! Until the next time - Jazzy x
