Today we left the gold coast and headed to Brisbane. The coach journey was a relatively short one, and a DVD was being shown which pleased me, a gripping story starring Denzil washington who has a son who needs a heart transplant and he takes hostages in a hospital to get treatment for his son, towards the end of the feature the DVD started skipping and was eventually turned off by the driver at the height of drama, so frustrating! Today is our last day in Surfers, with slight hangovers from the night before we had a little lay in before walking down to the park and having a swim in the lagoon on the water way. Tonight we went to an aboriginal dinner and experience at a wildlife park. It was pretty similar format to the maori evening we had done over in new Zealand and we learnt a bit about aboriginal and torres strait islander culture and watched some dancing and singing before being taken to a dining hall for a traditional meal, yum! This afternoon we arrived in Surfers paradise. This place was originally called Elston but the name was changed to Surfers paradise in 1933(after a local hotel) as it was thought it would be more appealing to tourists, this certainly worked and is a pretty popular holiday destination for Aussies and overseas people, lots of stuff to do and hotels around.
