Francois Peron National Park is north of Monkey Mia in the Shark Bay world heritage area. We stayed at a campsite on the eastern shore of the peninsula at a place called Herald Bight. It proved to be a good pick as the wind continues to howl from the south west and we were therefore more protected. We weren't expecting too much of our visit to Monkey Mia as we had heard that it was rather overrated. Whilst that is true and the only place to stay there is massively overcrowded it turned out ok for us. You will see in the photo album that there was a large crowd on the beach for the dolphin feeding and yet Stephen was one of only 6 chosen to hand feed one of the two dolphins who had come in to the beach that day. We had Cath's birthday with breakfast at Coral Bay, lunch at Carnarvon (delicious banana splits) and a lovely fresh prawn dinner at the campsite at Blowholes at Point Quobba near Carnarvon. Cape Range National Park is right next to Ningaloo Reef and was where we camped whilst we were visiting Ningaloo, but it was terrific in its own right and had absolutely stacks of wildlife. It was really interesting as there was a bore water tap in a pretty dry area and on our first day we went to the tap to fill up a jerry can with water so we could shower after snorkling.
