Today I decided to explore Melbourne so I have my bearings before I start work. I booked myself on an afternoon tour of the city along with a cruise on the Yarra River and visit to the Dandedong ranges.
The Yarra river cruise was first up. It is was really good but very cold!!! The cruise took us to the main Victoria harbour, under the various bridges, the aquarium and we had a view of all the bars and restaurants along the river!!! At the end of the river is the Melbourne cricket ground.
The city tour only took us to the edges of the city but I did get to see the Melbourne cricket ground up close, the Rod Laver tennis stadium, china town, PWC and E&Y buildings, the law courts, national gallery, princess theatre, St Pauls Cathedral, the Eureka tower (tallest tower in Melbourne)
The Dandedong ranges were really cool. Another NP, starting to like these!!! We stopped for afternoon tea there where we had some traditional billy tea and cake. We were surrounded by various breeds of parrot which was quite unique.
We then stopped at the highest point in Melbourne to take some pics of the view, which was great but I was freezing!!! I needed another Billy tea!!!
It was then back to my hotel for an early night as I was still feeling a bit jet lagged and wanted to be fresh for my first day at work!!!!
