I am very sad today as this is my last blog entry from Melbourne. Today is my last day at work.
I managed to send my suitcase off this morning with all my suits and work stuff!!! I also managed to this week apply and receive my visas for Vietnam and China so am all set for my travels!!! Exciting!!!
I went on my last tour yesterday, taking a day off work, it was the sports tour. There was a group of ten of us in this mini bus and our guide Anthony (great bloke, pity he is a Chelsea fan) took us to the many famous Melbourne sports grounds and trust me there are lots!!! Thats why I love Melbourne!!!
We firstly went to the Flemington race ground, the home of the Spring cup which sadly I am going to miss. I had no idea prior to coming to Melbourne that they are big into horseracing. Everyone gets a day off for this one race - madness!!
It was then onto the athlete's village to see where the athletes stayed for the Commonwealth games. This was quite interesting for me to see where Ad stayed when he competed here last year!
It was then onto the MCG for a tour. I found out some interesting stuff on this tour. It takes about 20 yrs to become a member at the MCG so most people apply for their son or daughter to become a member at birth. It costs about 500 dollars a year to be a member and this gives you the right to attend everysingle event that occurs at the MCG. When you reach 50 years a member it is only 15 dollars per annum!!!! How cheap is that ??? Bargain!!! Wish Wembley had the same policy!!!
It was then onto the Australian grand prix circuit at Albert Park and lunch at the Telstra Dome and finally a tour of the Rod Laver stadium - the home of the Australian open!
All in all a good day!!
So for my last day at work we are having an audit team building da. We are doing the amazing race around Melbourne. For those who dont know this is where you get into teams and have to complete these challenges that are scattered around the city in 3 hours. It is then onto CQ for some leaving drinks. God knows how I am going to get up at 6 for my flight to Adelaide tomorrow!!! Wish me luck!!!
I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Melbourne it has been a fantastic experience and I will take away some great memories and some new friends!!!
