Hi everyone,
These weeks are flying by over here! Its New Years Eve today and in a few hours we'll be somewhere around the Harbour Bridge to watch the fireworks! But heres what we've been up to the past week.
We did manage to purchase some meat for the BBQ on Xmas Eve, so there was no need to open up those cans of tuna. The big day arrived and after being woken up by a call from Sean (cheers pal) we headed down to the beach with presents, a bit of music and a few bottles of beer all in hand. We wanted to put a Xmas number on but out of all three of our Ipods, we only had the one Xmas song. It was a bit of a Mariah classic though...All I want for Xmas! And no it wasn't on my Ipod (Maybeses). So that was on repeat (we had to get in the mood) during the present opening sess. Milsy brought me (I mean Santa) a funky new number to be worn whilst sharking. And Roomaldinho decided to get us the new FHM (and I thought he knew me lol) and a swinging cricket ball...cheers mate. After a few manly cuddles were embraced we had a quick outfit change to our whites and strapped on those pads to play a bit of Cricket. We did manage to get a few action shots and I reckon the pictures say it all. After the Cricket...it was time for the main event! The chefs hat (well Santas hat) was donned and the cooking exhibition began. So after a bit of garlic bread (for starters), sausages, steak, burgers, and even some kangaroo (I only tried a little bit though...but it was quite nice) we were all feeling really tired and pretty damn fat. But your allowed to at Xmas, its a rule! We can't go breaking rules. We even had a little nap (we are getting old!) After we recharged out batteries, it was time to have a few schooners and celebrate the night. Thanku for your text messages and calls as well...you know who you are! It was awesome to experience Xmas in Oz, roll on new year in Sydney!
We were planning on having a very chilled out Boxing day, like normal. But we got woke up by the cleaner at around 10am, thanks for that love. We thought we could stay for another night, but Boxing day is the busiest day in the year for travelling to the coast (we didnt know either) so we had all of 5 minutes to get out. Not fun, especially when you've had little sleep. We headed to a town called 'Goulbourn'. We headed in land a bit because apparantely staying in places on the coast costs a bomb. We stayed in a cabin in a Holiday Park. Not too shabby. But Goulbourn was a bit of a ghost town. That night we tried to go watch the biggest match of the season...Spurs v Villa. There was no where to watch what turned out to be another easy win. Another easy three points and an easy 50 pound in the back pocket! And I will collect on my return Mr Thomas Turner and I want the value in cash, not your homemade "special" vouchers. Goulbourn was basically just somewhere just to stop off for a few nights, somewhere cheap. But there was hardly anything to do, so we were looking forward to our next stop off on route to Sydney.
We drove to another town called 'Woolongong' (crazy name!) where we stayed for another few nights. It was much nicer and there was much more to do. We stayed in another YHA hostel and this place even has its own private indoor car park. Talk about la di dah! lol. Abigail did sleep well. When we were there, we went to the beaches and to be fair they looked amazing. Their like the ones you see on a postcard. But because the state of my adonis-like stomach (I did say adonis, Belly lol) the t-shirt had to be kept on at all times. I'm sure the whole beach was happy with my predicament :-). At the beach though it is all a bit surreal. Half of the people there have either had one too many cheeseburgers or one too many steroids. If you look right its like looking at muscle beach (so you feel a bit inadequate/wussy) but if you look left its like looking at a chubbly warner beach (so your definately feeling good about yourself by having a gander over there).
We arrived in Sydney yesterday and we're staying with a friend we met the last time we were here. Shes got her own flat and its literally fifty yards from the SCG so we're hoping the Ashes test will go five days this time, and if so again pick up some cheap tickets! I hope everyone has a great new year and I hope everyone has a great 2007.
