Hi Guys and Girls,
Another week, another dollar! All I've been doing is either working (and I mean working) for seven straight days (including one "sickie") and on days off making sure in the evening that we sample the Sydney Nightlife. I've got to out now when I can...because we've only got a few weeks left in this great city.
As I said before in the last post, I'd been working from Saturday to Friday at the Olympic Stadium. This event for "Onsite Labour", the company we are working for is the biggest of the year. The problem is..."Onsite Labour" usually have a team of 15 trained workers. However, for this event, there was 9 of us! And me, Jake and an Irish lad are only a few weeks into it (so you cant call us trained). Well...actually I'm probably even a Health and Safety risk when operating the drill. I always wondered why I'm on my own lol. No honestly I'm OK...but Jake on the otherhand!
So in terms of the size of the build, it was probably equivilant to the size of four footy pitches. Thanks very much. Do they actually think I wanna work that hard?? But the hours do fly by, but I have paid the price with a fair few number of cuts on the old hands. So on these days we've had to regularly wake up at 5.30am, it just gets better and better doesnt it! But at least one of the old boys who we work with picks us up outside our flat (so no public transport for us!) and that does mean we get a little extra sleep and time to finish off those dreams lol. I did bottle it on the Wednesday though...I was sick! Well sick of waking up at 5.30am :-). No honestly I wasnt in the best shape at all, was up all night! Havent felt that bad in a long time. Jakey boy did go in and send my excuses so no problems would occur. But I did feel guilty (for all of two minutes when Jake was leaving). It was a long week working but again...seeing everything come together (and the fact that it was bloody massive!) was cool to see. We've gotta go back there and take it all down in a few days so I'll take my camera in because I know some of you (the boys) are thinking that this event was not so tough and that I've STILL never worked a proper days work in my life so I must be lieing! I know you too well boys lol.
All that work though did mean we had a few days off over the weekend. So realising the opportunity we had...we headed straight down the "local" bottle shop and picked up a few 4 litre bottles of wine for $9 each. I really dont enjoy the stuff...but it really does do the job. So we had a great weekend meeting new people (and obviously engaging in a bit of chirpsing).
And not too impressed with the weather the last few days either! All week when we were working, it was sooo hot outside and when the time comes for us boys to enjoy the weekend it absolutely pours down. We were even gonna go out last night (seeing as we're not working till 4pm today) but the rain put a halt to that. I mean we didnt wanna get wet now lol. I think that their summer season has finished now (according to the TV) which is another reason why we wanna head up the East Coast as soon as possible to warmer surroundings.
I've gotta go now seeing as I've got work in a few hours but I will upload some more pics next time I'm on. And would you believe it!! The suns just come out....cheers. Hope everyones OK and thankyou for your messages. And I've just had a missed call from a withheld number so I'm guessing it was someone up Ballare celebrating (Miss) Lauras Birthday. Sorry I missed it. Take care everyone.
