After originally planning to stay 2 nights at Cape Leveque, we ended up staying for 5 - this place is beautiful!
Set up camp next to Lisa, Steve and Torah, and we had a great spot overlooking the ocean, complete with a fireplace. Our days were spent swimming and fishing and more swimming and more fishing, and lots of playing with Torah.
We met a guy named Wayne (he and his wife Wytske are regular visitors to Cape Leveque), and he gave the guys the low-down on the best places to fish. Wayne is a flyfisherman too, so Lee was in heaven. Lee caught a few golden trevally on fly, which we enjoyed for dinner a couple of nights.
It was Torah's three-quarter birthday while we were up there, so Lea cooked her a cake in the camp oven, and we had a little party. Unfortunately Torah slept through the party, but we managed to save her a piece of cake, which she enjoyed the next day.
Apart from fishing and swimming, we also visited a couple of Aboriginal communities - Lombardina, which has an amazing bakery and a beautiful beach; and One Arm Point, which has a marine hatchery with big barramundi, trochus shells, and a pair of very cute greenback turtles.
Our final night at Cape Leveque was topped off by Wystke cooking us delicious garfish that she's spent all day catching for us. We've certainly had our fair share of fish up here!
