Had a wonderful couple of days down in Augusta over Christmas, it was surprisingly uncrowded. We visited the Cape Leeuwin lighthouse, and saw where the Indian and the Southern Oceans meet. The next day we had a stinking hot Christmas, which saw us going for a swim at the beach, eating a cold meat and salad lunch, and then lolling about on the grass for the rest of the afternoon, clutching our over-full stomachs.
Boxing Day we packed up and hit the road, driving through the beautiful karri forests up to Pemberton. It was 42 degrees, so we joined the entire population of the town down at Big Brook Dam and went for a swim, then went to the pub for the afternoon - the only place open on Boxing Day that had air-conditioning! Caught the end of Day 1 of the test match, then back to camp for an evening surrounded by screaming kids. You gotta love school holidays!
