After a few days re-stocking in Darwin, we hit the open road again - WA was calling! We stayed a night at Katherine Gorge and one at a place called Big Horse Creek (aka Big Boab Campground - there were heaps of them).
Got to the WA border, passing through the quarantine inspection and surrendering our fruit and veg, plus our honey. We wound the clocks back 90 minutes, took our mandatory border photo, and ventured in to WA.
The scenery is becoming quite spectacular, with massive rocks rising out of the plains, it really is breathtaking.
We drove to Lake Argyle and the Ord River Dam, a rather impressive piece of engineering, the dam wall being made of clay and rocks and no concrete. We had lunch downstream of the dam in a nice park there, and watched the water gush through the hydroelectricity outlet at 43.1kL/sec - that's a lotta water! And it wasn't even working at full tilt.
Set up camp for the night in Kununurra, and went to the pub to watch the Swans play in the elimination final, and get duly eliminated. Bummer.
Early night, for tomorrow we're off to the Bungle Bungles.
