On leaving Dongara/Denison, we headed south and made our way to the coastal town of Jurien Bay. Set up camp for the night, but the wind was unbelievable - every peg and rope we had was put to use to secure the camper!
The next day we backtracked slightly to Sandy Cape, a "bush camp" run by the council, right on the beach. We found a nice spot tucked away out of the wind, and spent a couple of days kicking back, along with dozens of others who had the same idea. Lee tried his luck at fishing, nothing worth keeping, but the water was beautiful and clear, and we were treated to a wonderful show - a sea lion playing with a dolphin out in the bay.
Pulled up stumps and headed further south, checking out the little coastal towns along the way. Unfortunately the wind (which is relentless at this time of year) had blown a whole heap of seaweed on shore at each of the towns, the smell was enough to knock your socks off.
We drove to the Pinnacles, hundreds of sandstone pillars standing there in the middle of nowhere, of varying weird and wonderful shapes and sizes. It certainly was a striking sight. We were amused that you can actually drive right in amongst them, there is a loop track around the park.
We decided we'd had enough of the wind and weed for a while, so we pointed the Navvy inland and hit the road.
