After a bit of last minute shopping John was in charge of blowing up the balloons & decorating the house. I had to arrange the food on the platters & make sure we were all ready to go for 6pm. Sandra was at work until 6pm so I had her responsibilities.
Earlier in the day I decided it might be good to make pizza pinwheels as they are filling & reasonably healthy. Unfortunately you cannot buy ready made pastry sheets in Croatia, so Cvita decided she would make the pastry instead. We worked together & made & baked the pinwheels which ended up being a major success.
We had to cater for adults & their kids, all up about 50.
The kids all had a ball & enjoyed the cakes & ran around outside until about 10 pm when families slowly started to depart.
It was good to catch up with family and meet new people, particularly the couple of families who live in Serbia, a short drive from Ilok. It seems that the division between the Serbs & Croats is narrowing somewhat.
