We woke up at 9am after having a great night's sleep.
We are staying with my cousin Cvita she is Mira's (from Zurich) older sister. Her husband Milorad is a gentle gem of a man. He is quite unlike many men in Croatia in the sense that he happily takes on household chores to help her out with the dishes, grandkids & cooking. Again we have a 3 generation home. Cvita's son Dragan, his wife Sandra and Their 2 children Iva (daughter) & Marino (son) all live together. They are poor in terms of money but have great wealth in their love of each other and the rest of their relatives.
Cvita is a great cook and has a wide variety of meals in her repertoire. She maintains a veggie patch down near the Danube where she accesses water to keep it alive & productive. The grandchildren are as expected spoilt but their parents have great support from Cvita & Milorad. The parents are employed, so bring in money, whereas the grandparents bring in a meagre pension to top up the family's finances.
After breakfast we walked up the hill (yet to count the stairs) to purchase some supplies & have a coffee at the Iločki Podrum, the winery built back in the 15 - 1600's.
Dragan has purchased & erected a small pool with filter for use this summer & of course we spent most of the rest of today swimming. All the locals tell us the Danube is like a sewer as the water levels have dropped dramatically this summer, so the thoughts of swimming in it are gone.
Of course good food & beer & wine topped off the day.
