In the late afternoon I headed off to catch up with Ivka (cousin) for the last time. Her brothers Andrija & Ivan were visiting and we chatted for ages. John arrived just before the weather broke and the heavens delivered more rain than one could imagine.
After dinner we headed off to the last night of the celebration of the Iločka Berba.
We donned our red Japaras to keep ourselves dry & navigated the steps up the hill.
When we got to the huge tent it was chokers with people. It was so wet that only a few people ventured outside to view the fireworks which were spectacular.
We eventually found a table to sit at, ordered a beer & some wine and enjoyed the traditional Croatian bands known as Tamburaši. Each band played for about 1 hour & the tent was full of people of all ages singing along and dancing.
One of the 2 ladies we sat next to knew of us as she work at the Principovac (a massive building that sits high in the middle of all the grape vines overlooking Ilok & serves food & wine) with Sandra. We chatted and enjoyed the evening.
John was hanging out to hear the Ludi Ljudi (translates to crazy people) song and at about 2pm we heard it and afterwards said our goodbyes to Malden & his family & headed off home.
We had a great night & enjoyed watching masses of people of all ages really let loose & enjoy themselves.
