We woke up at early after having another great night's sleep.
Rođo, Cvita's youngest brother was here after breakfast. He is one of the local policemen. We asked him why there were so many police cars & vans outside the police station and he told us that they were pertinent as we are so close to the Serbian border. The border has police patrols every 2km to prevent immigrants moving into Croatia.
Before lunch we dropped in to visit Mladen (cousin), Snježana (wife), Karlo (son) and daughters, Martina & Paula. Mladen was the Managing Director of the Iločki Podrum last time we were here but now is 1 month away from having his own winery built up on the hill overlooking the vineyards. He has a large cellar at home and has just finished filling 2000 bottles with yeast & chardonnay and another 2000 with yeast & cabernet franc. These should be ready for the new year's celebration.
He is a vintner & Karlo is finishing his last year of agricultural studies with a major in wine making at university next year in July. We trust the business will flourish as it will provide more work for family and friends, particularly as the Iločki Podrum is losing business in the area.
We relaxed in the pool after enjoying a delicious lunch at Cvita's.
Tonight on the news we were informed that the weather would change as rain was coming in the next day or two.
