A quiet morning & early lunch as we needed to visit my mum's brother who is in a home in the outskirts of Zagreb. Duško has Alzheimer's. His wife (Barica) & son (Mladen) visit every Saturday, so we joined them. We had heard that he is very thin & is extremely unwell.
We arrived within minutes of Barica & Mladen so we met at the entrance.
Yes, Duško is thin and stares blankly into the distance & doesn't recognise his wife & son; however, he ate heartily - obviously enjoying home cooked food. After a while, we all decided to head to the café across the road with Duško where he enjoyed a coffee. Barica treated him with extreme care, love & respect and we both fought hard to fight off our tears. I am now tearing up as I write this - John & I both swore that we would be as caring & loving as Barica if the worst should occur in our lives.
Later in the day, back at Zagorje, after lunch, we headed off to Roses (a factory outlet complex) to check out the sales & Seamus scored 3 t-shirts.
The day finished off with a light late dinner lots of laughter as we relaxed with a few too many drinks.
