Sunday;; Day 48!!!!!
Wow!!! So I've missed writing a big chunk of things that have happened since I last blogged on Day 39 lol thanks to my mobile smashing when it fell on the ground last week and being completely unusable. I thought that I would not be able to use it again but miraculously some dude in Seville could fix it, and for 45€..not bad eh! So I'm back to the online world but so much has happened ergh don't know where to start! It's hard to get back into it when you know how much you how much you've missed...
Here goes!... on Saturday the 26th August (Day 40) I spent the afternoon down at the pool with Alejandra, Patri and all their friends playing in the pool near by. I say hello to their friends and sometimes jump in the pool with them and play a little but that's about it; I like to leave them to it. But today, all of a sudden they demand that I play in the water with them and talk to them and be with them lol. There's some new kids I've not seen before and everyone introduces themselves to me along with how old they are. There are kids ranging from the age of 6 up to 14 and they all play together; I love it. I finally submit to playing with them and before I know it I've spent 2 hours with kids following me absolutely everywhere trying to ask as many questions as they possibly could in English! ...how old I am, what my brothers name is, how old he is, what my parents names are, if I have a boyfriend, where I'm from, what my favourite colour is, what my favourite animal is etc etc..you get the idea lol! They are literally hanging off me in the pool and have no sense of personal space; but who am I kidding; I love it and they are all so friendly and as a bonus I get to learn new spanish words... Once it's 3pm the pool closes and we all head home for lunch but the kids ask me to meet them all back at the pool at 5.30pm pronto lol! (Okay!) ...After lunch and doing English reading and activities with kids, we head back down and I am welcomed by a big 'Chloeeeeee' by all the kids! It's quite nice really ;) After another couple of hours playing in the pool, we head up to the park where a soccer 'court' is (dirt not grass and it's enclosed with a huge wire fence all the way around it) as there's going to be a big tournament between all the kids. The teams are divided into ages and gender and the parents and everyone else surround the court to watch. There are probably 8 matches and it makes me miss playing, just wish I could run in there and have a kick! The kids are so good at football here though, even the little ones. The little girls are so cute but I enjoy watching Ale, Patri and Alvaro play and Ale is definitely a little machine. She's probably the best out of all the girls her age and has good skill. My blog photo is of some of the kids around the fence watching the game. I think it's cute :)
On Sunday (Day 41) I hardly get a second to put my things down at the pool before I am dragged by the kids to play again! A few girls in particular don't leave my side but I only remember a few of their names; one being 'Ines' - she's 13, loves makeup, has long dark blonde hair and is so enthusiastic to get to know me and learn some English words! All the kids are either brothers, sisters or cousins it's crazy.
So today is one of the girls birthdays; Clara who is turning 7 and she is having a birthday party and the kids have invited me to go to the party too lol, so I offer to do the birthday girls makeup. She is the younger sister of Teresa who's birthday was a few weeks ago and I did her makeup for her as a surprise :) so Clara asked if for her birthday, I could do her makeup too! (Of course!) so around 6 we head to the house to meet everyone and Clara is so excited to see me arrive with my makeup! ...and she absolutely loved what I did! As did all her friends, especially her Mum :) After cake and singing Happy Birthday (Feliz Cumpleaños!!) we all grab our towels and head back to the pool.
In the evening (8pm is still afternoon in Spain apparently) one of the older girls who I have spoken to a few times spots me and asks me to join her and her friend on the other side of the pool. Her name is Carmen, she's 20 and she is the eldest sister to Anna and Rocio. She introduces me to her French friend Matil, short for Matilda I think and I sit with them talking and hanging out for a while. Carmen says how she can't understand how I don't get sick of the kids or don't hate them after a while lol. I don't really know...I just love them. It's the weekend so I am off from looking after kids now but hey... I am next invited to meet the kids at the park at 12 midnight (not late here apparently!). One of the girls gets my 'whatsapp' and asks me to meet her. Her name is Rosa (Rose) and is 14. I'm officially a kid! Excited, I head home to have dinner and at midnight head to the park. I hang out with a group who are a actually Alvaro's friends (luckily he didn't mind!) and we stay in the park until 1.30am. Unfortunately, when I get home is when I drop my phone and it just shattered completely. Not a happy chappy, especially with the camera and my knee and my shoes hahaha ah dear but hey-ho!...
On Monday (Day 42) I get organised with the kids and then head down to the pool. I relax with Rocio, Carmen, and the French family that come here every summer as they have a house here (as you do!). I really like Matil, the French girl I met yesterday and she invites me to make crepes one day with her when I get back from Italy!..
The kids and I all play cards and then we play a game in the pool where I throw the ball across the pool while one of the kids runs and tries to kick or head the ball mid-air as they jump in the water! The pool instructor/life guard, Jaime even joins in as well and says he'll throw the ball for me but I can hardly run with my knee! I end up doing a slow-mo jog and jump in the air as he throws the ball and I header it probably 6 metres haha I was quite proud of myself. Jaime is my age and all the kids love him as he joins in with playing sometimes. He's nothing jaw-dropping but he's nice to look at when there's no other men my age in sight haha :p He can hardly speak English and I can hardly speak Spanish so obviously we have great conversations! But each day we get a little bit further than just hello and goodbye and I think he's really nice. His girlfriend is also AuPairing like me, in England for a few months apparently...
One of the Dads and I who talk sometimes talks to me again today and we arrange that in 'Winter' (October) if I'm still here we will meet up and teach each other English/Spanish! He also suggests that I could take proper classes to learn Spanish once the kids go back to school so if I end up staying I will probably do that. See what happens!
At night I head down to the park with Alvaro and his friend who's name I can not pronounce so there's no way I can write it. Ale and Patri are already at the park and this time I end up spending an hour or so with Ale and Patri and their friends playing all the card games I have been learning since I got here. I feel so free and comfortable and happy when I'm with all the kids, it might sound silly that I'm hanging out with them but they absolutely love it, and I don't mind it too much either ;)
Tuesday (Day 43) I can't really remember! It's so hard to recall things from a week ago when you enjoy every single day haha. I think it's much the same as every other day. I do remember that I cooked burrito's for everyone last night though and they were a huge success. Alvaro went crazy for them and even though they've loved everything I've made so far, I can see that this is a favourite. They all tell me how much of a 'fantastic cook' I am but I always deny it. I guess because I don't follow any recipes or really know what I'm doing. I just kind of grab things and smell them, look at the spanish writing, and then decide whether to add it into the mix or not! Haha it's worked out every time so far so hey! I will admit that some of my best cooking has been done while I've been here though, and Alvaro says I should open up a restaurant (ha ha haaa!)
I think Wednesday is much the same again from memory but I know that on Thursday Jaime arrives home from his 2 week camp; it will be good to see him. I will continue in the next blog so I can think what actually happened! :)
