Thursday;; Day 24! Today we will be going to the country house (woop woop!!!) Again, Patricia and Jaime don't get up until about 11.40am so we have some breakfast (brunch!), do some homework and then head to Grandma's house again. Grandma isn't even there at the moment, she is in Germany but it is nice that we get to go there as Patricia wants to play on the wave boards again! Oh no lol! However, after a few stacks and slips, I finally get the hang of it and how to get the wave motion in my leg! Patricia is constantly shouting 'faster faster!!' and I swear I'm trying haha! My confidence builds up and I start going faster and turning corners and then Patricia thinks it will be fun to push me as ride along so that I go even faster! She chases me around with each time pushing me so I keep going! Meanwhile, our 2 spectators are there again having their 'lunch break' and saying in Spanish that I'm getting better! I will note that I have a huge bruise on my butt thanks to one stack but hey! I like the wave board now!
Back at home, I make them lunch and we watch TV before Eva comes home. After much organising, packing and running around, we finally get all our stuff together and squeeze all our things into her car. Kiki took some things down early this morning before work as he won't be with us now until Saturday, but we are still squeezing the bags into every little gap that exists arounds us in the car! We don't get much speed on the highway either thanks to the heaviness of the car lol!
On the way, Eva and the kids point out different buildings and monuments in Seville that I must go and visit! They also tell me each major highway name or city on the way that we go past so that I can repeat and learn how to pronounce them in Spanish!...some of the sounds just don't come out of an pure English-bred mouth though unfortunately haha!
Once we arrive, only after about 40minutes, I see just how rural the area is that we are in but also how beautiful it is. Eva tells me that the whole village is like one big family as generations have stayed here over time, each generation buying a house near their parents house to stay in for the summer months. There is a river that runs through the lower level of the village and across a bridge leads to the pool and park area which is like a common area for all the families of the village.
When we pull up to the house, it is amazing! 2 story and about half an acre of land - very different to the apartments in Seville's city. Eva tells me how they bought the land about 8 years ago and designed the whole house to be built. It has the typical villa feel to it but with also an old, Victorian style to it too. (see the blog cover photo to see one side of the house). There is a huge vegetable patch down the bottom of the property that Kiki has made over time. Patricia and Jaime rush inside to show me my room and then the rest of the house...it is obviously that they love it here and apparently they come every weekend as well as the summer!
Once we have unpacked everything it is about 8pm so we decide to go down to the pool for an evening swim - even though it still feels like the middle of the day with complete daylight and heat! As we walk down, I see why the family love coming here so much - the pool area is huge! It's like a long winding river of a lagoon type pool that wraps around in like a semi circle shape with a little bridge across in the middle. Then on the lower level is a full size lap pool and there are families everywhere! I should take like a birds-eye view photo actually to show what I mean! (I'll make that my blog cover photo tomorrow). We strip down and go straight in the water...This is the life!!
We relax around the pool for an hour or so and I get introduced to some of Eva's friends as well as Patricia's friends. Everyone is so lovely and friendly, I feel very lucky.
Once we head home, we have dinner, play some games and get to bed. So far I feel I have comfortably fitted in to the family - the only thing I am finding a little challenging is when Eva is at work and Jaime and Patricia start arguing in Spanish. I say 'Jaime no', but before I know it, Patricia is crying and Jaime throws something at her. Despite me saying no I'm not too sure at this stage what else to do as Eva doesn't really say much more than that and I don't want the kids to get even more upset or angry. They are very independent so it's hard to know how to manage the situation more than I already am. But hey, that's all a part of it right! hehe
I am excited for tomorrow though as we will be spending a couple of hours down the pool and it will be a good chance for me to get my white pins out and give them a good sun soak :)
