Tuesday;; Day 29. You can feel the days slowly getting hotter and hotter here as the middle of summer approaches! Apparently it's even hotter in the city of Seville and Kiki said it read 49degrees Celcius when he was driving from work this afternoon :O ..lucky we are in the country and with the luxury of the pool!
Today ends up being much better than yesterday and at lunch time (3.30pm lol!) we welcome the arrival of the 4th and final child, Alvero (Albero)! He is 14 and a 1/2 and is so lovely! We kiss on both cheeks as you do with anyone and everyone that you meet here for the first time (and every time you meet for that fact!) and I immediately find myself clicking with him. We seem to have the same likes, have the same humour, and share a passion in art.. and ping pong lol! We end up playing about 6 rounds of ping pong together to which he asks me a random question during the match, 'Chloe, are you staying until December?'...I have no set plans at the moment so I repy, 'maybe, we will see!' He then says, in broken English, 'ok well I want. I want you to stay until then.'...I think my heart just melted! This is the nicest thing I have been told in such a long time and it really gives me the love and acceptance I was lacking yesterday...
The family works well now that all four children are together. When it was just Patricia and Jaime, it was quite intense, but now with the other two, it seems more just like a permanent party or sleep over, I love it! This definitely supports my desire to have 4 children when I am older, not just 2...but I just don't want to actually give birth to them lol...anyway.
We play in the pool like usual and I get some real good tanning going on again. You don't burn here it seems which is good, but I do wear 50+ sunscreen on my face, back, chest and tummy! (Just incase you wanted to know haha!) However, there is an unwritten rule here in Spain that you stay out of the sun from 3pm until 5.30pm. Apparently this is the most dangerous time of the day to be in the sun, so maybe that's why I am avoiding getting burnt as well! This time of the day is also classified as 'siesta' time of course, to which most family's seem to siesta, except ours! We have not had one nap yet!
We also end up showing Alvero a magic trick with a pack of cards that I have been showing the kids and then teaching them how I do it. Patricia somehow worked out the trick as soon as I did it for her and she has enjoyed doing the trick for Alejandra and Alvero. Alvero loves it and we then do it for the parents. I never knew a pack of cards could be so entertaining but I am glad I brought them and shared the trick...
So today ends up being my favourite day so far since nannying; first because of Alvero arriving and also because back at the pool, I head over to talk to Manuel again who is sitting by the edge of the pool with his daughter who I am yet to meet but have heard a lot about. She is gorgeous! Her name is Rocio (roll the R a lot!) and she is only 15 but she looks about 20! She has just come back from England, near Leeds, studying English for 3 months or so! This is good because I now have a friend who I can communicate easily with lol! How lazy of me... The three of us sit and talk together for probably an hour or so and she offers to take me to Seville (downtown city) in August to see the sights, historic buildings and go shopping! Yay! She also offers to help me with my Spanish. I tell her how I am a Makeup Artist too and we agree that I will do her makeup. We then come up with up a grand plan that maybe in August we could hold a little makeup session for all the young girls of the families here to watch, learn and have their makeup done. I would talk in English and do the makeup and Rocio would translate! Of course, I get very excited about this proposal and she then suggests I could even do all the Mum's makeups and charge something like 15 euro each. I don't have much makeup here at all with me thanks to my luggage limit but I could always head to Sephora if need be I guess!...
Later in the evening, when the kids and I go back down to the pool, I head over to see Rocio again who is relaxing in the baby area of the pool (shallow) with 2 friends. She introduces me to them; Rafa (roll that R!) and Belen? (Bilin?) not quite sure on the spelling! They are 22 and 18 and are a couple. Rafa speaks some English and so we attempt at a 4-way convo with Rocio translating for everyone when needed; which ends up being the majority of the conversation lol! Rocio tells Belen about how I am a Makeup Artist and Belen gets excited as she tells me that's what she wants to be. I suggest that I could do her makeup for her if she would like, maybe tomorrow evening, to which she accepts without 2 seconds to even think about it! Hehe! Rocio will be going to the beach tomorrow so I won't see her, but I am excited to get out my brushes and give them a workout as I haven't done anyone's makeup in over a month and haven't worn any myself for over a week!!!!
At night time, I make dinner again for everyone and then we all have a bit of a ping pong tournament! I then propose we get a group photo together now that everyone is here and we won't get another chance for a while as Jaime will be leaving tomorrow to go on a summer camp, much like the ones Alejandra and Alvero have just been on. I grab my camera and set it on the windowsill on a 10 second timer but I can not see whether it's working from the front so I decide to run outside and work the camera through the window lol. This way I can angle the camera properly but then I had to run back inside once I had pressed the button and get in the photo in time haha! After a few hilarious attempts, we finally get a good snap together. The one I posted on Facebook and the blog photo...
I am feeling great today and so happy that I have made new friends. Patricia and Jaime have been fine and I feel more comfortable within the family. My Spanish is coming along a little bit too and I head to bed feeling satisfied! :)
