Monday we had class from 9-12:15 again. I did some homework, ate lunch, and went to survival Italian. Guiliano, my Italian teacher, took us to buy tickets for the mini-metro ( a monorail that runs through Perugia). We got on the mini metro and went to the big grocery coop. I was amazed to finally see a real grocery store! P.s. I will post pictures of the mini metro soon…it is quite unique. We then went to the train station and learned how to purchase tickets to take trains all around Italy.
After class, I told katy I would go for coffee with her, but I got roped into running with the rest of the girls. I figured it would be a good way to wake me up. So karole, Kelley, alex, sara, and I, all walked down the 4 flights of stairs and walked to the track. It costs 1.50 euro to use the track…I ran 1.5miles and then we ran up all 4 flights of stairs.
Monday night was the last party of eden…so clearly we had planned on going. We showered, and then I had a salad. Katy, Karole, Kelley, and I went to the café across from eden. It was pretty good, they seem to have it set up so that live music plays on certain nights, although this was not one of them. We went back to the house, changed, and got ready for eden.
While walking to eden we saw Antonio and vincenzo on the bench outside the café some of us had just been to. They said they were friends with the bartender there as well (it is a café and bar). We took two complimentary shots. The rest of the guys found us at the café, and we all went to eden. What a blow out night, we did not get home until 3 because we were having so much fun.
On Tuesday, we had class from 9-11. I went to the atm with katy, and then stopped at the coop for a few things. After bringing the groceries home,Katy, sara, and I went to lunch at duomo bar. Christina would be jealous of my ham, red pepper, eggplant Panini. We sat outside and talked to gennaro and david who came by, david is the bouncer at eden. Kelley was eating near us and sat down for awhile. Katy and I had class at 12:15. After class, we again tried to go to Assisi. Note the word tried. This time we got on the mini metro to the train station and found that we would not have a lot of time in Assisi, as we told Carson we would be back for dinner. All of us, (karole, katy, sara, alex, Kelley, and i) decided to just go to the big coop. we bought LOTS of good groceries, and got back to via bartolo around 5. Carson was having Mauro over for dinner to repay him for fixing her computer, which he was going to do after dinner. She cooked pasta with red sauce and we made a salad. Katy brought wine, as did Mauro when he came at 8:30. They eat dinner much later here than we do at home. We had a lovely dinner, it was fun talking to Mauro. Mauro is the IT for Umbra and has worked there for 3 years, in student activities and other places. He speaks English very well and has just finished his thesis.
Around 10:30 kelley, katy, sara, and I went to the fountain to see what was going on. Earlier in the day we saw them setting up something. Apparently a famous DJ, DJ Ralph, was performing. It was kinda trippy, with all the bright lights lighting up the buildings and the techno music, but it was fun non the less. Mauro found us and stood with us for awhile as I watched and tried to pick up some sick techno moves. I am sorry they are not very good right now, but hopefully by the time I return to the states I will have perfected some. Mauro said the concert was in celebration of the 700 years the university of Perugia has been open. I have pictures of the concert, but not of the renaissance fair the day before.
As we were leaving, we saw Antonio and Michael. We talked to them for a few minutes and then passed out . I have been getting these bug bites, and we asked Mauro if there could be bed bugs in our beds or furniture. He said he had never heard of bed bugs until he started working for umbra, so he doubts they are from our furniture…so maybe they are just mosquito bites. However, falling asleep for me now is difficult because all I do is imagine bugs in my bed. It is still noisy at night, but I am getting used to it.
Our other classes started today. I have Italian from 9-10 every morning Monday through Thursday, because here in Italy they do not believe in classes on Fridays. Now I don’t have class until 3. I will try to post my class shedule.
We got our broken door window fixed that the wind smashed. Our washing machine works! And I am currently doing laundry. The only other problem is that I have had one hot shower this entire time I’ve been here. Someone should be coming soon to hopefully fix the temperature and pressure, because one person, let alone, 5 people cannot live like this.
After class we are hoping to go running again, then eat dinner, shower, and go to merlin. Merlin is the other lounge bar that pisco owns, and it is opening after renovation tonight! So I am sure that will be fun.
P.s. you can see pictures and also stalk where i plan to be each weekend! hopefully more definite dates will be coming!!
