I don't know what it is, but it seems that whenever I attempt to shop, my entire day becomes one big comedic joke!
Ganey thoughtfully suggested I leave earlier for my tour of Highgate Cemetery so that I could stop in at Crouch End to continue the hunt for the dress. Great idea I thought!
I won't go in to detail, because I'll probably start to cry, but needless to say the day did not run so smoothly. After no joy with the shops, and 4 buses (many of which were much later than their stated 3-6mins ETA) and a 2km walk/run to the cemetery, I was 5mins late for the tour and they wouldn't let me in! I could see everyone on the other side of the gate but unlucky (I won't insert my real thoughts here for G-rated reasons!).
So back on 4 buses to get home and determined not to let the day be wasted, I continued to look for the dress. Very pleased to report that I finally found one, at Finsbury Park of all places. As I admired my purchase on the bus, feeling slightly better about abandoning the boys for 4 hours, I discovered on the bag that the store I bought it from has one other store in London - on Stokey High Street (about a 10min walk from our house) - aargh!
Met up with Chris and Mitch on said High Street to look for a pair of black shoes for Chris. Bought the first pair he tried on! They look great but seriously, talk about adding salt to the wound!
After a manic set-up for Bernie to babysit the little guy for the night, I hightailed it in to the city via another bus and 2 tube rides (seriously, I normally praise London's public transport but if I never have to show an Oyster Card again my life will be complete). Met up with Emma from work for about 30mins (unfortunately - was nowhere near long enough to catch up), for a half-pint of cider at the pub across the road from Jersey Boys.
Ganey frantically got there after doing the handover with Bernie and we got in to the show with 3mins to spare - phew! But wait for it... not even through the first song, they stopped the show due to technical difficulties - ok, so by now we can laugh. They got themselves sorted and the show went on. And it was as great as everyone said it was!
Exhausted after our frantic day, the best we could do was share Maccas on the bus on our trip home.
