Best sleep of the trip last night. Even had to wake Mitch up at 9am!
Very grateful to be staying another night here, we love this place.
Decided to head off to St Andrews to the see the home of golf - the Old Course. The course is so famous that you have to go into a ballot to get a tee time, and if you're lucky enough, you then get to pay £150 for the round!
Despite this prestige, we were really surprised to find that you could actually walk on the first tee/hole - so we did. And took photos. When Mitch goes on tour in 20yrs time we'll have one of those prophetic stories - the crowds will love it. If only he'd had his plastic driver in his hand...
Following our sporting morning, we went for something completely different. We went to Scotland's Secret Bunker. This was an underground 2-story bunker that housed 300 people, first the RAF and then the Royal Observer Corps. Essentially, it was here that they monitored any impending nuclear bomb attacks and was the place where Scotland's government would relocate to if there was such a crises.
In true Brit style they had recreated the rooms with dummies but all of the equipment was real. It really did look like it was out of a 1960s Bond movie, sadly minus Sean Connery.
Fascinating place. Now not so secret though because it's no longer needed.
Back to the Lodge for a lovely evening walk around the property. Saw the cows, horses, donkey, ponds and went for a swing. Mitch's walking is going so well now, managed for the second time to stand himself up today. He even decided to show off a little too - he can now kick his soccer ball!
