Last day in London... First day it was over 23 degrees...
The majority of the day was spent cleaning up Bernie's place and then making ourselves scarce for the cleaner!
Mitch and I wandered up to High St and went to Cafe Z Bar, home of the world's worst chicken burger - dry bun, battered chicken breast and cabbage - am I wrong!?!
Meanwhile, across town, Ganey was picking up the newest addition to the Gane family - our little silver KIA. Back to Stokey and after 3hrs we were packed and ready to leave (at 7pm) for Lizzie and Simon's in Rickmansworth.
Just 1hr into our 21 days on the road and we were already thanking Bernie's sat-nav (whom we've affectionately named Judith) for saving our marriage. You see, instead of me reading the map and saying turn right at the next street, only to find its a no right turn, Chris could yell at old Judes instead of me - brilliant!
So we made it to Lizzie and Simon's new place (they used to live 2 doors down from Bernie's) which is an hour north of London - and when I say 'English cottage', it's everything you could possibly imagine.
They are 1 of 3 cottages that used to be the workers quarters on a mansion property - lounge, kitchen and dining downstairs and 2 beds and bathroom (which is Lizzie's favorite room of the house and contains our most favorite shower in the world) upstairs.
Outside is the massive garden, which is, not exaggerating, about 8 times the size of the house footprint. It contains their veggie garden, shed, glass house, new summer deck and a beautiful garden which used to contain labelled plants (old owner) but now has a more natural feel.
Ooh - almost forgot to mention. Come 12am when we were heading off to bed, I was the last to use the bathroom and managed to almost flood the house! Eek! I turned the tap on and it just came right off, literally could not get it to stop. I was screaming out for help, without screaming because Mitch was asleep 2m away, and in the end the boys finally came to the resuce. Nothing like having to turn your water off in the middle of the night to do emergency plumbing repairs. Lizzie and I have taken a mental note that we need to learn how to turn the water off in case we ever face this debarcale again...
